The SmartDashboard is intended to be a really cool tool for debugging and monitoring your programs output. There's a video of it being used for displaying robot data, status, and other things here:

Thanks for posting this up. Also the videos on command base are a great surprise. I didn't know they were available, I'll be sharing them with my students as I'm sure they will help.

One thing we found as a hurdle with smart dashboard was the lack of documentation on configuring the dashboard to connect in to the project. Being completely new to SmartDashboard this year left for a lot of guessing and checking. (2011 versions of the SmartDashboard class on our machines helped to complicate the issue for us - 2012 appears to be smartdashboard.SmartDashboard?)

Since we're learning as we are going, we would love to capture any feedback that other teams have on the guide, to make it as accurate and helpful as possible for teams going forward.
