ah, another broken motor scenario

most of the other teams seem to have experienced a problem with the plastic brush holder breaking; the same thing happened to us (the little black clip holding it in snapped off). now, we are having a problem with the motor shorting. we cannot figure out what is causing it. can anyone please offer suggestions?

thanks so much, in advance

Are you shure it's shorting or is it just arcing? Maybe the brushes are not fully pushed against the commutator.

it seems to be working now... we used some electrical tape to hold the brush in place, and reinforced the other motor

thanks :)

Uhhhhh, I don't think brushes are made to be held in place with any kind of tape. That's just asking for problems. Try epoxying the brush hoods and the motor endbell -- just wherever it broke.
