No no no, bad robot, you were only supposed to put the big Orange ball in the goal.

Having no money left over for a rug on thier practice field, one of the freshmen decided to "take one for the team" and protect the balls from popping on the rough plywood.

Due to the huge factor of weight (and being sick of the 'speed' holes), the robot finally snaps and takes a student hostage....

Based on the definitions of the words "SCORED" and "SUPPORTED" the freshman does NOT count for 5 points, as his foot is clearly touching outside the PVC. Were his foot elevated, he would count for 2-freshman based on the definition of "CAPPING". Refer to Section 4.3.1 of the FRC-2004 manual for any/all clarifications.

Knowing that the time had come for FIRST to choose Nationals Qualifiers, the team chose to sacrifice a freshman in hopes of gaining some ground in the running. Who needs 'em anyway...?

I guess the freshmen had to learn the hard way, never turn your back on a robot.

Ah! New idea!

Freshman Paul learns that hallucinogens are not an effective way to combat stress and "competition-sickness" (like home-sickness) during the build season.

"After failing his attempt at a 50-point score, he learned the hard way that even the small balls can do damage."

Student protests over the "robots can't score balls" rule during the 2004 season were largely ineffective, as the freshmen's peaceful demonstration tactics proved to have little impact on the actual playing of the game.

Alright, time for another fun posting of results.

As a reminder, the deadline is 9:00 PM according to the forums. Anything posted after then will be ignored. (Ask the folks here at USC: I can be very good at selective hearing.)

So, for first place...

Second place goes to...

"I wish FIRST used floppies this year!"
Honorable mentions cette semaine (pardon my French):

Hey, I didn't get my 2 HM points; I had 16 points after contest #10 so I should have 18 now I think (is HM 2 or 1?, I forget).

C'mon BillFred - I have so little to live for; this contest is the only thing that gives my life meaning until Build Season starts. Those 2 points push me ahead of the rapier wit of Andy Baker and Dave Lavery, if even only for one week. I can just hear them telling everyone now...." Hey, I'm funnier than Gary Dillard", "Sure Gary's funny, but I'm kicking his butt in the caption contest".

It does, however, sadden me that those extra points will pull me out of a tie with John V-Neun; his caption was truly worthy of victory this week, and I know he'll be crushed to find out that he hasn't quite achieved my point level. JVN - you had probably already updated your resume but you'll have to wait yet another week.

Just two other things, for the record:
1) Honorable mentions are worth two, unless I say otherwise. :)
2) It's just Billfred. No extra capitalization or anything like that is required.

Alright, now until Sunday...

JVN - you had probably already updated your resume but you'll have to wait yet another week.Gary,
Seriously man... we even threw a party to celebrate.
Then POOF, they awarded victory to Dillard.

I think I should demand a recount.
You Floridians do weird things with voting.
How did you count hanging chads?

Ohh well... I guess I'll just wait 4 more years.

Seriously though.
Being tied with the Pig Farmer is bad enough, but the Astro-dork is still beating me?

The most important thing is that I'm beating Amanda Morrison.

Until next week folks...
When I shall run again.

JohnnyV

edit:
Due to confusion, I'll clarify... Astro-dork = Lavery.
That is all.

Hey Billfred - any chance you can post next week's picture early? I already missed one week with my internet access down from hurricane Frances, and I expect to lose power in a few hours from hurricane Jeanne. These people are vultures - just waiting for any advantage they can seize. Throw me a rope, PLEASE :ahh:
