can anyone give a five-minute explanation so series and sequences in respect to calculus II? ok this may not seem like the best topic but I'm seriously needing help right now...

I hope you aren't talking about the whole subject of series and sequences that could take a while though I can help you on a specific topic. Sequences are essentially an infinite listing. A sequence of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11...... is essentially the sequence of {n}n=1infinity A series is a summation of sequence. If you have a calculus textbook handy you will notice that the text book uses the summation (sigma) character to represent a series. So I'll show you a series. 1,1+2,1+2+3,1+2+3+4,1+2+3+4+5,1+2+3+4+5+6, and so on, and so on. This is essentially a series of n. This is the basic introduction. After you learn about series and sequences, you are probably going to learn whether or not a if a particular series/sequence actually diverges or converges but that is really starting to go overboard with information. If you need help on a particular part of calculus two just ask. I happen to be taking the same course. And as always wikipedia describes everything on sequences and series in a detailed manor.

thanks for the help...i have a text book but i just dont understand how it teaches...so i bought a different text book lol. but that helps with the basics and getting started...Thanks :D

Yeah... I know how you feel. I rarely ever read my textbook beyond the problems that I have to do.

how about s&s in regards to interest rates?

here's the q:

When Jack left school. he borrowed \$15 000 to buy his first car. the interest rate on the loan was 18%p.a. and Jack planned to pay back the loan in 60 equal monthly installments of \$M.

i) show that immediately after making his first monthly installment, Jack owed \$[15000 * 1.015 - M]

ii) show that immediately after making his third monthly installment, Jack owed \$[15000 * 1.015 - M(1 + 1.015 + 1.015^2)]

iii) Calculate teh value of M

anyone?
