I was wondering if you could possibly take an image (a logo perhaps?) and place it on a part in inventor then just extrude it? if so any help would be awesome. I dont think you can but i will ask.

You can use the emboss or decal features.

Emboss/engrave will only work for sketches or text made with the text sketch tool.
To simply put the image onto a part, decal will let you add bitmap (.bmp) images to a part. Inventor Help says .doc and .xls can be used as well, but I don't know how that works.
If you want to extrude/emboss the image or create features based on the image, you'll probably have to approximate or reconstruct the image with sketch geometry, or place a decal and trace it with a sketch.

No it's not possible. Like said above, you would have to recreate the images on a sketch and extrude them to how you see fit.

I've not touched Inventor in years, but perhaps it's possible to import vector-based art into the sketch environment?

Dylan,
Have you tried posting this question on the Autodesk discussion group?
Try here (http://discussion.autodesk.com/adskcsp/index2.jspa?categoryID=21&discommunity=mfg).

I'm pretty sure it's not possible to base an extrusion or other sketch-based feature off of a separate image, but worldbringer's idea of inserting the image and then tracing it by hand onto a sketch is certainly possbile.
