I made all the wires for inventor using the harness and wiring feature & i want to import all my files into 3ds max, but 3ds max doesn't import them. So is there any way to turn the wires into solids? I tried derived component, but it didnt work. Is there any other way to do this?

Why do you need to import them into 3DS max?
If its anything being submitted, you can't use 3DS max, only inventor renderings/animations are aloud.
you could always make a loft feature of a circle to look like the wire, then it will import correctly into 3DS.

He might be using it for his animation which can be done in 3ds max or perhaps it is to show off to sponsors. I would just like to state that you could do as he said above or you could just make the wires in 3ds max. I don't think it would be that hard if you know what you are doing.

I just did a Save Copy as ACIS (*.sat) and then ran acisin in AutoCAD and the wires came in as a solid - so I assume there is a method to get them into Max.

Thanks for all the help.
I can use boundary path on the face of the wires to make a sketch, and then use sweep with the existing path for making it solid. But, itll take too long to do that.
oo. maybe it might work if i use iges format
I'll give it a try
