Click the link to go to a page that shows how popular the FIRST Robotics search on google was. Notice the spikes during the kickoff each year.

Notice the spikes during the kickoff each year.
Also notice that they go down from year to year. Don't know if that's cause more people already know. Or less people care... :ahh:

The spikes might be going down, but the number of searches don't hit zero (or anywhere near it) during the summer

So know all we have to do is make FIRST more violent and we get that high...
NA! No fun. :D

While the number of searches does go down...take a good look at the bottom graph which shows media mentions over the years - up like a poof ball! FIRST is definitely getting a LOT more media attention - Dean's homework worked!

the 2009 top search is also slightly higher than the 2008. Bouncing back?

I like seeing the cities, especially the top city. :)

just saying, the graph itself is based on the average worldwide traffic of FIRST Robotics searches in all years. Notice the numbers on the side (2.00 and 4.00)

I think the coolest part, at least for me, is that Rochester NY is the city where more people search for FIRST robotics then any other city.
Wooo

It's normalized for the size of the city. So a greater percentage of people in Rochester search for FIRST robotics then any other city, but it's probably not the most people.

That would be the important number, the percentage.
Go Rochester!

I love how the number one news story on the FIRST v. Robot Wars page is that "Robot wars may threaten humanity", which just so happens to be the only news story non-FIRST on that page.

Looks like we (Rochester FIRST teams) are doing a good job getting the word out about FIRST.

Just remove bumper requirements. That should satisfy people. I happen to like the sound of metal bashing metal :) Of course, my former team always uses way too much material and makes the robot an unbreakable tank, so I'm probably biased knowing our robot wouldn't get damaged :D

I'm not, because that presents the opportunity that I need to make them care more!

I'm going to agree with XXShadowXX, and not just so I can sleep easy.
For one, it's mostly FIRSTers causing the spike when Kickoff rolls around. Non-FIRSTers in the search would remain fairly constant throughout the year, only spiking when there's a lot of media attention for something. I think if that were the case, there'd be a much larger spike for the World Championship than for Kickoff.
Also, congratulations to Rochester, NY. I hope you guys know that the Michigan teams are going to do our best to grab those top-ranking spots on Google from you. ::safety::
