The NASA Robotics Alliance Project is pleased to announce the FIRST Robotics Competition participation grants for 2010. Listed below are the "Regional Challenge Grant", "Program Growth Grant" and "Sustaining Grants" applications that have been selected for award. Receipt of a NASA Robotics Alliance Project grant award is contingent upon a team being registered with FIRST and confirmed at the specific event for which the sponsorship applies. Regional Challenge Grants are NOT transferable to other teams or other events. Program Growth Grants may be used for any regional competition event, but they are not transferable to other teams. As indicated in the grant application, awarded funds will not be sent directly from NASA to the winning teams. The awarded funds will be transferred to FIRST on behalf of the awarded team, and used to fund the registration fees for the associated regional competition event.

The announcement of the 2010 NASA team grants has been released. You can see the list of grant awards here.

Congratulations to all the teams that were selected for a grant award. NASA received a significant increase in the number of grant applications this year, and the selection process was particularly difficult. Unfortunately, we were limited in the number of grants that we could support by available funds, and could not award a grant to every team that applied. Believe me - if we were able, we would have gladly supported many, many more of the outstanding applications. For those that do receive a grant award, we trust that you will enjoy and get the most out of your FRC experience this upcoming year.

Here is a subVI I created that i thought would help out anyone using labVIEW

I created it to be used to take the 12 boolean wires outputted from "FTC Read Controller.vi" and convert them from 12 true/false variables, to a binary number, to a base 10 number that you can connect to a case statement to do things such as stop when no buttons are being pressed or do an action when a certain combination of buttons is pressed. It comes with a small guide to help you understand how it is getting its output number and ultimately avoid a lot of unnecessary programming.

Button Config Outputs:

Controller Button - Binary Output - Base 10 Output

1 - 000000000001 - 1
2 - 000000000010 - 2
3 - 000000000100 - 4
4 - 000000001000 - 8
5 - 000000010000 - 16
6 - 000000100000 - 32
7 - 000001000000 - 64
8 - 000010000000 - 128
9 - 000100000000 - 256
10 - 001000000000 - 512
11 - 010000000000 - 1024
12 - 100000000000 - 2048

Add the Base 10 Outputs together to make a specific combination of buttons to be pressed for your case structure

Lets say you want an action to run when you press the buttons 5, 7, 11 and 12, you would add the base 10 values from each button (16+64+1024+2048) together to make the value: 3152

What's going on in my area? has added what's billed as a school locator and through a map of the US (not other countries) allows us to get a listing of all the schools or youth organization, etc. within a state and the FRC/FTC teams associated with each of them.

There are still a few self evident bugs in their system, but I wonder what new homework assignment this foreshadows.
Perhaps the goal is now at least one of these two programs in every school?

This machine shop would be open to the community and anyone would be able to work on the machines simply by taking a safety course and getting checked out on the machines. It would be open to ALL FIRST robotics teams during the build season to come and work. Please take the flowing survey to help us in the creation of our business plan.

I am focusing on the San Fransisco Area, so I would like to ask out of state teams to refrain from taking the survey so we can get an accurate measurement.
