Increase Range of ultrasonic distance sensor

Hi. We were considering using the MaxBotix distance sensor included in the KOP, but we noticed the max range is only 254 inches (about 20 feet,) which is not enough for what we're trying to do. Is there a way to increase the max distance or, failing that, is there a longer range sensor someone can recommend?

Hello. This is Tom from MaxBotix Inc. Our sensors with the longest range is the MB1260/MB1360, MB1261/MB1361, and the MB7066. They have ranges to approximately 35 feet.

Re: Increase Range of ultrasonic distance sensor

...and, of course, you can use it to sense both the wall in front of you, and the wall behind you - one of these is always less than 35 feet away.

Pay attention to the cone of detection. Look at the data sheet on their web site.
