Interesting project, but I'm having difficulty justifying a $24 mechanical pencil...don't get me wrong it looks like a great project and an interesting engineering story.

Cool project, but anyone interested in the ultimate Mechanical Pencil should try the Pentel Graph Gear 1000, which sells for under $15.
You won't regret the investment and (for pen users) may find it even makes you use pencils more often.

$24 is actually really reasonable for a high quality metal pencil. There are a lot out there that cost a TON more that are very popular.
