memory problem

I dont know whether if i post this in the right section..cmiiw..

so here's my problem:
I've create an application, when i run it in my desktop it consumes arround 200 Mb of memory, i use windows Vista
but when i run it in my notebook it cost double memory usage, 400 Mb , the os is windows 7

I wonder what cause the problem, is it memory leaking?
I read about garbaga collection, is it recommended? because one of the disadvantage i read, it consume more in CPU time

any idea what is the problem?
Thanks

Re: memory problem

There is an antivirus program that they installed at work that doubled the size of all running programs (Thanks McAfee!). They found this to be unacceptable, so the next version created a separate process that took up a memory footprint equal to the sum of all the other processes.

It has also slowed my machine down considerably, and made my CAD software unstable.

That's an understatement.

As for the original issue, how are you determining memory usage?

Re: memory problem

Abigail,

You do realize this is a robotics forum, right? I get the vague feeling from your post that you are thinking it is a Delphi software forum, which it is not.

I am frequently wrong, though.

Re: memory problem

I have a memory problem also. The more I try to stuff into my memory banks in the brain, the same amount gets displaced out of it!
