Stop The "Lesser of two evils"

Lately I have been hearing the response "I am choosing Kerry, he is the lesser of the two evils" when people are asked "who are you going to vote for". This has started to upset me. Many of these people would have typically said "Of course I am voting for Kerry" but they feel ashamed because the right/bush camp has made it seem like being a Democrat or a Liberal is a bad thing.

Its important for us democrats to stand up and say "Hey I'm a Dem and I am Proud of it!"

-We are the ones that fight for the middle class
-We are the ones that fight for equality
-We are the ones that try to keep the constitution from being thrown out the window
-We are the ones that want health care for all Americans
-We are the ones that keep America safe!

Please stand up and be proud of who you are and what you believe in!

I dont want to start a big flame war- please keep it civil

Re: Stop The "Lesser of two evils"

Honestly, if we CDers have learned from the past, we know that politics and these forums DO NOT MIX. As much as people try to not "start a flame war," it always seems to happen.

I know it is an election year and politics are important to those of us that are able to vote, but we already have enough politically charged threads:

John Kerry: The Good, The Bad, or Both?
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=29820

Kerry/Bush By O/S
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=29886

The DNC
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=29788

Martus for President
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=29655

John Edwards VP Nominee
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=29377

Kerry or Bush and why?
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=27387

Fahrenheit 9/11
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=29089

These are only a few of the threads. I'm not including some on the issues like Research Tax, the Draft, Abortion, the UN.

Can't we just say enough is enough?

...or might it be because many of us don't feel that the Democratic Party candidates are nearly liberal enough?

I will vote for Kerry, but it's not because I'm in love with the Democratic Party or because I think he's the perfect person to be the President of the United States. He is not even something to close to the sort of President I want to see in power. He is not nearly liberal enough, outspoken enough, or true of character enough to be worthy of the office.

He is, in all ways, the lesser of two evils.

Re: Stop The "Lesser of two evils"

I think the reason he is the lesser of two evils is because as the This Land parody points out, "[kerry] offers flip-flops."

He fought in the Vietnam War and earned 3 Purple Hearts. The same person who went to anti-war rallies.

It's his extreme change in attitude on subjects that contribute to why he would not be a good president.

Re: Stop The "Lesser of two evils"

I am talking about the group of people who would typicaly say "of course I am for kerry" but now say "Its the lesser of two evils". Of course there are tons of people "lesser" applies to...

I think that is good, he had the guts to go and when he was there he realized it was wrong and instead of just coming back and keeping his feelings to himself he got out there and did what he thought was right.

At least he showed up and did what he ad to do, at home and in Vietnam
