6: no, I do not have any reason to not wear safety glasses. Every time I work with power tools I think to myself, do I want to be able to see or not? After I put mu safety glasses on. Even with safety glasses I have gotten particles of what I am working on in my eyes though.

See Vikesrock's post for my answer...

(And sometimes power tools aren't the danger, it's cyanoacrylite fumes...)

Which one takes longer for an official ruling? Therefore, which one makes more sense to use?

6. It depends on material, if I'm working with wood then I probably won't. Metal yes. I also wear glasses so depending on available safety glasses, they may provide no additional protection (the safety glasses may not sit flush against my face because of their design). Metal working is usually done in a shop where they require safety glasses, but sometimes outside of the shop, I wear safety glasses ~70% of the time.

Edit: If there are students around, I will wear safety glasses to set an example. I'll admit I have bad habits.

6. I wear prescription glasses. Most safety glasses either do not fit over them or are very uncomfortable with them. I have "close-up" prescription safety glasses for working in the shop or pit, but I sometimes forget to put them back on after switching to my regular glasses for clear distance vision.

Yes

2. Have you ever been exposed to flying debris, such as dust or chips?

Yes

3. When you use power tools and/or are exposed to debris, do you wear safety glasses?

Yes

4. If yes, then what percentage of the time do you wear safety glasses?

61-80%

5. Have you ever been injured as a result of not wearing safety glasses?

No
6. Do you have any reasons why you do not wear safety glasses? (Please explain)
A few. First, if I need one hole and the safety glasses are someplace else(i.e. I'd have to drive to get them or walk in excess of 200 yards). If I'm in a hurry, and don't have time to look for them. I already have glasses so if the debris is minor enough, I tend to ignore it.

I would just like to make a note to my answers: I do use power tools all of 3 times a year.(If you want to exclude my data, do so. However, I thought I'd fill it out in case you needed more responses.) Also, while I did post my reasons for sometimes not wearing safety glasses, they are NOT good reasons. There really isn't a good reason for not wearing safety glasses in those circumstances.

(fine, I got hit in the face with a moon rock while not wearing safety glasses, but doesn't anyone? In any case, it wasn't major or anything, it just stung a little bit because of some exposed plastic)
6. I always wear safety glasses while working with power tools, or if I'm around dust and chips (especially dust, see above picture). I rarely don't wear them, and if I don't, it's normally because I deem the situation safe enough to not need them (simply moving the robot, packing things, some demos).
