This is the O.G. version of the AndyMark Planetary. Same gear reductions and everything.

Did that early AM Planetary include stand-offs for mounting the FP motor? I like the breathing space that this mounting style provides (i.e., does not block the front ventilation holes in the motor case), but I wonder if it is stiff enough when the robot is shock-loaded? Also, how is the motor power coupled to the gearbox? With the stand-offs as shown, it appears there will not be much axial engagement for the motor pinion.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Re: pic: Unknown AM Gearbox

Billfred is correct (as usual). Also, the standoff that Richard is referring to is part of the cap. Notice that the cap is thin on the edge. This was for motor ventilation. The newer version of the cap has slots in it instead.

Re: pic: Unknown AM Gearbox

Thank you! As stated we had used this set up as a part of our ball intake, and for some reason, this motor was pulling a really high current (~10 amps if memory serves correctly). We tested one with no load and it was roughly the same (a little less). Therefore, before IRI, we're considering changing it out, but we weren't sure of the turn down. Now that we know that, we can move forward a lot clearer. Thank you!!
