Fuzzy on scoring

I'm a little fuzzy on the scoring system. I've been out of FIRST for two years, so bear with me
You get 1 point for scoring each tetra under the goals and 3 points for scoring on top of goals. Right?
You get 10 points for every tic-tac-toe if you own the 3 goals.
You only get 10 points if ALL the robots get back to their end zone. Do you get anything if just 1 or 2 make it back?
Do you get your opponents score or your own if you win?
AND you get lots of penalty points if you screw up
Is that it or did I miss something?

Re: Fuzzy on scoring

everything there is correct, except you only get points if all 3 bots are back. Even if one bot doesnt show up and the other 2 get back, you can't get the points.

The winner receives the loser's score, which only counts towards their average score, which breaks a tie in the case that more than one team has the same ranking,

Quote:
<C01> A TETRA is worth 1 point if CONTAINED in any GOAL and 3 points if STACKED on any GOAL at the end of the match, for the alliance of the corresponding color.

<C02> Any ROW of three GOALS OWNED by the same alliance at the conclusion of the match is worth 10 points for the alliance. There are eight possible ROWS.

<C03> All three ROBOTS of the same alliance in their designated END ZONE at the conclusion of a match is worth 10 points to the alliance. A ROBOT is not considered in the END ZONE if it is touching the field outside the defined END ZONE border. The tape line designating the END ZONE border is considered “in” the END ZONE.
Please read Section 4 of the rules for more information (it's short).

Re: Fuzzy on scoring

One thing not mentioned in those rules above, is if a tetra is under a goal, it is owned by the corresponding alliance and counts for a row unless a different tetra is placed on top...We found that out sometime during the day at GLR.

Re: Fuzzy on scoring

One rather major correction that surprised and confused us in our first round at GLR. You get 10 points if you have 3 robots in the endzone. Not all the robots that you alliance has fielded, 3 robots period. So if your alliance mates have a broken robot, try to get them to put it out there anyways. If they haven't passed inspection then you're just plumb out of luck and you've lost that scoring opportunity since there's no placebo bot this year or anything.

Re: Fuzzy on scoring

Also, according to team update 15, instead of everyone getting ranking points equal to the score of the loosing team, everyone gets the score of the team who had the lowest score not counting penalties.

So if team A scored 50 points and had 20 points in penalties, and if team B scored 40 points with no penalties, then team B would win, and both sides would receive 40 ranking points.

That's not correct. With team update 15, it's possible for the winning and losing alliances to get different Ranking Points (RP).

The losing alliance ALWAYS gets their score minus penalties. The winning alliance gets either their score minus penalties or the losers score without penalties which ever is lower.

If there are no penalties, it works like it was before team update 15. For example, if Red gets 30 points and no penalties, and Blue gets 15 points and no penalties, both get 15 RP.

If the looser would have lost with or without penalties, the winner gets more RP. For example, if Red gets 30 points and no penalties, and Blue gets 15 points and 10 points in penalties, Red gets 15 RP (loser's unpenalized score) and Blue gets 5 RP (losers penalized score).

If the winner changes because of penalties, the winner can get their own score. For example, if Red gets 60 points and 70 points in penalties, and Blue gets 3 points and no penalties, Red gets 0 RP (losers penalized score) and Blue gets 3 RP (winners penalized score, which is lower then losers unpenalized score).

Hope This helps.
