spider foot offset

does anyone know about how much the spider foot is offset from the spider leg? maybe from the center of the circle? I couldnt find anything in the rules or I couldnt find the CAD files of the field Both would be greatly appreciated

should be on the drawings, look for G07-0004 "Field Rack Assembly" specifically.

Look at detail 20 on drawing 2007 Field_Rack_Fabrication(2)_R1.pdf - it looks like the offset from the center of the foot to the center of the leg is 2.88".

the drawing I mentioned shows a dimension from center of leg to center of plate of 3.188". This dimension is not shown explicitly, but it is the difference between the height of the "center of peg" and the height to the "center of plate", and is shown in three places.

You could split the difference and call it three inches

I am confused, some one menioned that the spider led was offset 2.88' from the edge of the rack.... Well in doing the math, taking into account that the central disk is 2' in diameter, spider legs are 5' long, and the rack is 10' (face to face), the spider leg is only offset 2'... where do those 0.88' come from?

there is more than one disk in the rack....I think you might be talking about the horizontal disks in the center, there are three of them, each have eight spider legs attatched. I am talking about the "spider foot" disk that is at the outer end of the spider legs, there are 24 of them, in a vertical orientation, the rings are hung over these disks.

And the numbers we were discussing are inches, which are represented in the US by the symbol " You seem to have read it as feet, which are represented by the symbol '

No I am talking in feet, as if you are looking at the rack from the top.... one section (which means two side out of eight) is 10 feet from one extreme to another.

We were talking about inches, not feet. We were looking at the spider leg from the end, not the side. We were talking about vertical offset, not horizontal offset.

To address your question, I find the horizontal offset of the spider feet is about 1.67 feet, viewing from the side. The overall width of the "cage" of the rack is 8 feet, each spider leg (from pivot to end) is 4.83 feet, the center disk from pivot to pivot across is 1.66 feet.

Two spider legs plus the center disk add up to 11.33 feet, sutract the 8 foot rack leaves 3.33 feet for two spiders. divide in half, leaves 1.66 feet per spider.

see attatched sketch, hopefully this clears it up. One place where you might have made a mistake is not including the amount the spider legs overlap the center disk. My measurements are taken from the bolt hole in each, not the overall size.
