Poll: Team Socials - your preference?

Considering this thread, and the varied comments I heard about the team social at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at the Buckeye regional last year, I though it might be nice to ask: What kind of team social do/would YOU prefer? Please state why, as well.

My opinion: A team social at a place like the R&R HoF is less exciting and interesting than, say the one at Palmetto in 2006, where everyone went somewhere and, after just a little bit of 'something to do' a lot of people just hung around and socialized - got to know folks from other teams, other states, and so on. Some good friends were made at Palmetto after a game of Extreme Duck-Duck-Goose. I really didn't get a chance to speak with anyone new at Buckeye, everyone went with a few friends and toured the place, then left.

Don

Re: Poll: Team Socials - your preference?

Good to know I wasn't the only one who felt that way about the Buckeye Regional. Besides the rest of my team. And the other Robocats. Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful that the committee got the R&R HoF for the social. But it just didn't seem like there was enough socializing activities, or time to do anything of that nature. Personally, meeting new people is just a wee bit more important than the interest of the place, though that is an important factor also.

I realize that the Regional committee has to weigh in all of those factors on top of budget.

Re: Poll: Team Socials - your preference?

I personally cannot stand the Rock n' Roll HOF. What's the point of having such a place when you aren't even allowed to take pictures of anything. And last year they even managed to surpass themselves and make it even worse by having the in house store closed so you cannot even buy a souvenir.
FLR has a far far far better after party with an emphasis on fun instead of doing it in some fancy schmancy location that has more security than the White
House ready to snatch your camera away at a moments notice. If we go to Buckeye again I am going to go find something else to go do.

MOE was to Rochester for the first time last year. The Team Social at RIT was AWESOME! The venue was great. Lots of things to do and much opportunity for team members to get to know each other in a nice, relaxed, social atmosphere. The only negative might be that it was hard to talk during certain karaoke sessions.

Ow, I still remember that night. there was a run on Moe green earplugs! I think I got the last pair which at least made the volume bearable. Barely. I agree the mix of activities made it a fun place to be and to meet the other teams.
