I know that it's been done. I think that you can use either the USB chicklet (not completely sure on this) or you can open it up, and wire each button to a pin on the serial port.

Yeah, it works. You have to have a compatible 360 controller chiclet, but it works. We were actually planning to use it to control our manipulator, but our mentor vetoed it because he said it's too easy to lose control.
