This is a link to a video of our prototype shooter making a half court shot.
Beautifully hidden mechanism... Is it more accurate at shorter distances?
PS: love the sound it makes

In that video were were testing using one motorized bottom axle and one un-motorized axle on top. This gave the ball top spin rather then when both axles were motorized and the rig simply shot a knuckle ball. The whole rig is powered by a 12 volt Dewalt battery for now. That video was taken and the near end of its battery life so that was as far as we could shoot. It is reasonably accurate from most distances. The shooter was lined up at the distance that it would be from mid court on the First field. On the topic of accuracy though you may notice in the video that someone is holding the shooter at the angle it is. Accuracy was not really the test here, yet eyeballing things did seem to work
Greater shooter. I'm curious to know if you were thinking of keeping it at a specific angle or building it so that it would be able to tilt up and down.

Awesome great work! That's with only one wheel (powered)? Interesting, our distance was much less with just one.

My wonder is how you're thinking of aiming it. Are you going to be tilting and turning the mechanism itself, or are you going to turn the mechanism and adjust distance with software?

The ball was had a compression of 3 inches. We were using cim motors for this mock up so that may explain the farther-than-average distance. We are planning on being able to control shooter angle, turret styled horizontal aiming, and wheel speed of the shooter for close up shots.
