So, getting the thread started a little bit early this year; but wanted to see about the different teams coming to the 2012 Peachtree Regional this year!
I won't be competing, but I will be volunteering as one of the new referees. :D

Though it says Team 1102 will be competing we had to drop out due to the South Carolina FTC Championship being on the 17th, the last day of competition we have 3 teams competing and don't have enough mentors and students to go to both competitions.

We didn't think it was going to happen this year, but thanks to some epic fundraising-fu during build season 2815 will be back to defend our title. We're looking forward to seeing how Incocknito stacks up against the best Georgia has to offer.
Team 343, Metal in Motion will be there!
I won't arrive until Friday, that pesky work thing! :(

We'll save a seat for 'ya!
I definitely think Bag & Tag has brought some South Carolina teams back to Peachtree--last year, the only teams that did Peachtree and Palmetto back-to-back were 1311 and ourselves. This year, the overlap is bigger and deeper:
-343 (2011 Palmetto & NC finalists)
-1319 (2012 Smokey Mountains finalists, so you know they're hungry)
-2815 (2011 Peachtree & Palmetto champions)
-2974 (2011 Smoky Mountain champion)
-3976 (Rookies, but their school was part of 2815 before they split off. Plan your Fantasy FIRST picks accordingly.)
Of those, all but 2974 are South Carolina teams. Should make it interesting to see these folks two weekends in a row.

Team 1002 Present and accounted for! We will be at Peachtree. And with us, There will be:
FOR ALL TEAMS
Team 1002, the Wheeler CircuitRunners will be hosting the CyberCenter again! Need the latest software update? Rules clarification? Need Chief Delphi access? CyberCenter is open to all teams and will have internet access for all essential items. 5 Laptops and a printer will be provided for use by teams!
Just stop by (we will have signs!) and our friendly staff will allow you to use the CyberCenter!
Also, Team 1002 would like to give a Southern Style welcome to all teams at the Peachtree Regional! Watch out for any 1002 t-shirt-wearing member, they might just try and help your team set their pits up and help them get inspected and ready!
Also, I will be willing to help anyone needing software help in java and electrical help. :)

This was a great thing last year--after we smoked no fewer than three minibot motors last year in Georgia, this service allowed us to get an order in in time for Palmetto. Thanks for keeping it!

Team 1771 will be back again.
Hopefully we can keep our title!
FLASH 1319 will be in attendance. We are looking forward to another great Georgia event as we were not in attendance last year and missed not being there.

Can't wait to see everyone there. How many of you will be attending the social event?
Also, team 1002 hopes to make a rebound (pun intended) from last year. We're aiming for the Championship!

Just 3 more days! I personally can't wait to get on the field on the practice day and start shooting some baskets and balancing that coopertition bridge. Let's all promise not to pull the antics of some teams at Toronto though, amirite? ::ouch::

I would be extremely disappointed to see, at ANY regional, a repeat of what happened at GTR. That was inexcusable (though not agaianst any rule I could find, at least not yet). It is within your rights not to cooperate if that might lead to a strategic advantage (I can see several scenarios where it might) but to hinder or attempt to unbalance a pair that has decided to cooperate is definitely not kosher.

yea, let's all compete with our utmost Gracious professionalism and play to win, not to make someone else lose!
Our team is probably going to be camping out that practice field a lot to do some tests, just a heads up (we'll leave if someone else needs it, but be warned, we'll need it a lot) :P

I think the practice field is going to be a mess, and if it's anything like the pathetic setup that we had last year, it won't be worth camping out on. Regardless, I think you'll find camping to be a rather futile effort since the sign up sheet usually fills up in about 30 seconds, especially on Thursday/Friday mornings.

Hi everyone,
Let's all make a pledge to ourselves to have an awesome time at the Peachtree.
Georgia is one of the fastest growing areas in the country with 17 rookie teams at the event.
So what does that mean. Let's all go out and see what we can do to help these rookie teams get off to a good start. And it also means that the venue will be 'COZY' !!! And next year we hope to have a bigger venue...
But for now let's go have a good time.

If we have the same growth next year, we may need TWO regionals to accommodate that many teams :ahh:
Oh boy, the fun at volunteering at two Georgia Regionals next year would be on epic proportions.

A northern Georgia and southern Georgia regional? Interesting.
Team 1771 just finished our last day of practice, today.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Peachtree!

Good News,
Even though we have a record number of teams this year, and even though there is going to be a very large military exhibit in the hall, along with an enclosed NASA machine shop, we will again have our full practice field! It will be the same one we used for the scrimmage, with real playing elements. The only concession to the critical space needs is that one end of the practice field may be pushed up a little closer to the wall than we would like, but that should only affect inbounding on one end.
See you there!

Growth is a a good thing!! In the 5 seasons since I left Georgia for Minnesota, we have gone from one regional to having 3 this year, with 64 teams at each one. And we need to add another one next year. I'm challenging Georgia to get out there and catch up to us!!

This is great news! I imagine we're not the only team that needs to tune a shooter (or two, in our case), and a full field should allow a few teams to do so simultaneously. Big ups to the planning committee for making this happen.

A 1002 alumni will be hosting a programming workshop on Thursday at 4pm. The workshop will be mainly about Real Time operating systems and efficient ways for real time robot programs to run. We have very few seats, so space is limited, but the lecture should be very informative for all team programmers.
We only have 13 spots available for the lecture (The speaker is not comfortable with large crowds). We will have a sign up sheet in our pits.

Anyone have a copy of the real match schedule?
Towards the end they said that the released schedule was wrong, and now I'm getting a 404 error on the FIRST page...

So, after an intense day of qualification rounds, what are teams seeing? I noticed that there were not a lot of co-op bridge balances. There were several attempts, but only 3 were successful. So there aren't a lot of teams that are able to take advantage of co-op, even though some teams are trying.
Are there any triple balancers out there for tomorrow afternoon?
Good luck teams, see you tomorrow.

This was possibly one of the most exciting peachtree regionals I have seen. That being said, I would like to congratulate the winning alliance, RCA, EI, Rookie All Star, everyone who won awards, and everyone who competed, most importantly. Everyone was a winner. We have done what FIRST has asked us to do. We changed the culture of ourselves and others around us, and that is the true challenge of FIRST. By being on an FRC Team, individuals have gained respect and truly thought of FRC as the Varsity Sport it is. Even if your robot did not do well, just the fact that you are thinking of improvements means you have done what FIRST has challenged all of us to do.
As a senior this year, I feel that FIRST has had the biggest effect on my life, and I will now be entering the world of volunteering and mentoring. Once in FIRST, always in FIRST.

I suppose I'm the first one to come off the celebrations post-P'tree, so I'll sound off the thank yous and remarks.
@ all of the rookies teams at the event - I hope you guys enjoyed the event and continue to be a part of the growth of FIRST. Hopefully we can develop into not only one of the largest regions in the nation but also one of the strongest.
@ 587 - We asked 2415's scout whether we should pick you guys or not. He pretty much said we'd be stupid to not pick you guys. Thanks for joining us, working with us, and ultimately helping us win the regional. Your excellent balancing and defensive skills were an integral part of the alliance and for that, I am grateful.
@ 2415 - Probably one of the more humble teams at our event, but I can say that 2415 did nothing less than carry our alliance to victory. It was an honor to work next to you guys, and I can't wait to watch you guys run when you're 100%. Good luck at future events, and eventually, worlds.
@ 1771 - Probably one of the most professional teams I've ever met. Usually teams pass around the blame but you'll never hear a bad word from 1771. Honestly, they ran an excellent event and were SOL when it came down to crunch time. Hopefully you guys can get enough funds to get to N.C and join 2415 and hopefully us at worlds.
@1319 - You guys have a sneaky way of coming from behind and you guys managed another regional finalist award. We had no idea where you guys came from. Took the finals by storm and really made it a task to stop you guys. I wish you guys well and hopefully you guys get that small push you need to get regional champions at Palmetto.
All in all, I felt like the teams at the event were extremely professional and understood that teams were playing the game, which meant that some hard losses were taken as well (like when 1771 shook hands with 1684 for some incredible defense) as incredible wins.
Couldn't tell if there was an extra dose of that southern hospitality in the air or what, but I had fun.

My brain is a little scrambled right now--I just walked into my condo in the middle of Columbia's St. Patrick's festival--but I'm going to try this post anyway.
First, thank you 1311 and 1771 for maintaining our track record of being The Last Pick of the Draft. We fought hard, and it's a shame that we all kept running into Those Little Things That Kill a Match. We'll get 'em.
Separate thanks to 1771 for encouraging us to go for the coopertition bridge in our qualification match. It was our very first go at the bridge, and it was a very pleasant surprise to see from the stands.
Similarly separate congrats to 1311 for Chairman's, AND Woodie Flowers, AND Dean's List, AND #1 seed. I don't think I have to add anything there.
Thanks and congrats to 2415 on their second Peachtree title in a row. It was great to be nearly-neighbors with y'all--I hope our kids were taking notes.
Fist-bump to 343 and 1319. South Carolina gave Georgia a scare this year. Palmetto is going to be interesting.
And, on a personal level, I've got to thank our drive team. As you may have heard, our driver since 2009 graduated last year and came back as our coach at Peachtree. Every student on the drive team is absolutely new to FRC this season, and none had operated Incocknito before Friday morning. To see this group come so far in three days gives us a lot of hope for Palmetto. We look forward to getting our voices back and cutting some nets in Charleston!

It was a great event again. I was able to perfect our tracking and shooting code. Sadly in or last matches the camera mount got twisted, causing our aim to be off.
Another problem piped up in the quarter finals...We used the new AndyMark Supershifters. Apparently the dog gear still has problems, when using pneumatics to shift at 60 PSI. This caused us to lose our drivetrain, making us immobile.
Regardless, it was a great regional.
Thanks to 1311 for picking us, 2815 for being an awesome alliance partner, especially feeding us during autonomous.
Sorry to our alliance for the astronomical failures though!
And thanks and congrats to 1261, its about time you guys won your home event again!
It was great working with y'all during the practice matches on the bridge, and it was a close match against each other!
You did amazing today and yesterday, it was great seeing all of you again!

Thank you RoboLions (1261) and WiredCats (2415) for inviting us along on your run to the top at Peachtree. You are both great competitors and were fun to work with during eliminations.
Thanks WiredCats for loaning us tools and giving us parts as we struggled to get CJ working Thursday and Friday.
1311, we look forward to seeing you in Raleigh in April.
I'd like to express our thanks and congratulations to Sean for rewriting the code for CJ, pretty much from scratch, after our merged pieces of code melted down in our second qualifier. Awesome job!
Now to figure out how to raise $5k before Tuesday at 5:00.

On behalf of Flash 1319, I would like to thank 3600 and 343 for being great alliance partners! You guys did such an amazing job and we really accomplished some amazing things. It was fun playing with y'all and I hope we can do it again in the future!
Thanks to all the volunteers and judges who made the event run so smoothly.
I would also like to thank all the friendly and enthusiastic teams at Peachtree who made the event so much fun. Everyone was very gracious and energetic. I hope Palmetto will be just as amazing.
Good job everyone and hope to see y'all at Palmetto or the World Championships! I don't know about y'all, but we're not ready to stop shooting hoops! :)
