Does anyone know what happens to the old control systems? Will the new ones be for sale to the public? If so, any ballpark price guesses? Thanks, :-Dan

Lots of reasons not to be optimistic...

Because much of the control stuff was donated to FIRST, I think they feel a little funny about selling them.

Beyond this, they would feel like they had to support them if they sold them which they are not staffed to do.

Also, unlike the Innovation FIRST stuff, the radios required a license.

Finally, I think they are keeping them in there back pocket just in case the Innovation FIRST stuff has a major blowout.

I would not look for any fire sales for 2 years or so if ever.

Just my humble opinion.

P.S. Besides, the Innovation FIRST folks need to make a buck to stay in business. I suppose that the controllers they sell to FIRST are more or less sold at cost. They money they make will be on the extra ones teams buy. FIRST may not wish to sell the old controllers just to keep from competing against one of their major suppliers. I say this not to put down Innovation FIRST, but to make it clear to folks how important it is for us ALL that Innovation FIRST stays in business. Believe me, we will all be better off with them turning a profit than with them staggering on the brink of bankruptcy. New features depend on a profitable business plan for Innovation FIRST.
