View Full Version : End Week 3: Team 2785
I know we may be a bit far behind other teams, but we finally produced a decent prototype for how we are to launch the balls:

First thought: Holy CIM motors, Batman!
Second thought: Have you tried compressing the balls? What's your current range?

We compress the balls pretty significantly. Maybe close to 9ft high, and I'd guess around 30 feet far.
I would suggest not using CIM motors (they are much more useful in a Drivetrain). For the shooter my team is using 2 Banebots 775 motors with a CIM-U-lator gearbox on it, which gives it an RPM similar to a CIM motor. In my experience this season, you want about the RPM of a CIM.
(Our two wheeled shooter can shoot the full length of a field, now we just have to aim)

I suspect the key word here is "prototype", not "final design".

Maybe I didn't look closely, but is the third wheel a free wheel?

You're putting a lot of power (motors) and weight/inertia (wheels) in and don't seem to be getting enough out. (There are a couple teas hitting up around 80ft with apparently less investment.) How's the backspin against the backboard?
