This was taken from an e-mail (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101780) that was sent out to the teams last week:

2012 FIRST Robotics Conference- Call for Proposals: FIRST is seeking presentation proposals for the ninth annual FIRST Robotics Conference. 45-minute workshops on topics of interest to FIRST Robotics (FRC), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams, coaches, mentors, students and prospective leaders will be accepted. The deadline to submit is 2/17/2012. For the submission form, please visit: http://tinyurl.com/89vj2hm. For full details, please visit: http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/firstplace/workshops-and-conferences.

This is always a great opportunity and the presentations are a fantastic part of the Championship experience. If you are considering submitting a presentation proposal, please do!

Link is broke Jane.
I sent an email on Friday asking HQ to update the page for 2012 and to link the application to the page. Maybe they are working on it?

Where's my hammer? I need a bigger hammer.

:)

(Thanks for your help with reminders, Jenny.)

When you go back to the post that was linked at the beginning of JY's first post, that link works.
Here it is (http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/firstplace/workshops-and-conferences).
I think the problem was the ellipses got transferred in the link rather than the site itself.

I think I repaired the damage I incurred. Thanks, Mike!

You are welcome, Glenn.

I've had several people asking for information and I was happy to see the e-mail. It looks like they've updated the website, too - so that's very good news.

Looks like they are still accepting proposals. Bill's Blog made a comment (http://frcdirector.blogspot.com/2012/02/is-it-quiet-where-you-are.html) stating that they are.

The link for submitting is included in the comment and here (http://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHpxalZEQ0U0VWNjaFZ0bXdOWVFoLUE6M Q) it is again. :)

Hi Jane!
I was wondering if there was supposed to be some sort of confirmation email after submitting an abstract proposal? I was just curious!

Thanks!

Nica,

The process takes a while. I'll see if I can find a contact person for you to e-mail your questions to.

I've been on the selection committee for the past few years and I know it takes a while. I also know that it can be very frustrating to the folks who have submitted abstracts and are waiting to hear something. Be back as soon as I can.

No problem Jane! I just submitted it in the middle of doing other things and wasn't sure if it was received!

Thanks!

Has anyone heard back that their submission was received? Or when the agenda/schedule will go out to the presenters, if accepted? I will send an email.

Just got this email:
Greetings Presenters

This is a quick update to inform you that your presentation proposals are currently being examined and discussed, and we should be able to inform you of the status of your proposals within the next week. Thank you for being patient with us throughout this process. I greatly appreciate your help and your enthusiasm. Good luck if you are mentoring, coaching or sponsoring teams at regionals, and I will hopefully see you all in St. Louis!

Thank you again for your proposals, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Best

Sorry to disappoint. That session on Thurs. at 5pm is not Team 71. ;)

This is the correct schedule http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FIRST_Place/Workshops_and_Conferences/2011_Assets/2012_Championship_Robotics_Conferences_Schedule.pd f

The title of the presentation at 2:00 pm is incorrect. The correct title is : "Beyond FIRST: After the Competition".

edit: And it is now fixed at FIRST....

Thanks Ed. My apologies! I had too many links flying back and forth. Could you please remove that incorrect link from your post?

I had posted this in another thread, but as we are looking for one more panelist I am repeating it here.

We are again hosting at Championships a panel discussion where girls can talk to women in industry and education about their careers, education, and experiences.

We are looking for women who are interested in serving as panelists, who work in industry or academia. Panelists introduce themselves, give a little synopsis of their career, and then field questions from the audience. This has included topics such as why you picked your career and the education needed, have you changed careers and why, benefits and pitfalls on being a women in a male dominated field, etc.

We are particularly looking for women who were students on a FIRST team so they can discuss how that has helped them get where they are.

This is the third year we have had this and it seems to get better each year. Last year there were over 100 attendees. Everyone is invited - FLL, FTC, and FRC students, mentors, family. It is scheduled as part of the robotics conferences for Thursday, tentatively at 3:00.

If anyone is interested in being a panelist, send me a note.

The "official" title and abstract is below. Hope to see you there!

Today’s Girls in Tomorrow’s Workplace – A Panel Discussion on Careers in Science, Engineering,& Technology

Girls – Are you thinking about a career in science, technology, or engineering? Are you interested in how this can be a stepping stone to related careers? Come to a panel discussion with women who are working in various industries and education, will describe their career path, and reflect on the challenges and opportunities along the way. The discussion will be followed by the opportunity for you to ask questions of the women on the panel.
