"Where is Wolcott Invitational"

June 9th 2012
Wolcott High School
457 Boundline Rd
Wolcott CT 06716

We are keeping the team limit at 24 teams. Last year we filled up fairly quick so I will post again when the registration is going to open. Once again we are looking for a very fast paced day with a lot of action. There will be

* 1/2 time human player challenge
* Mentor only robot that competes in the qualifying rounds
* after the fun we had last year we are also continuing our guest announcer spot where YOU (yes you) can be the play by play announcer for one match
* The always amazing Jack Kentfield as our Master of Ceremonies

My team would really love to go, it seems fantastic, but we were wondering how much it costs, as we are a bit short on funds, but it seems fun and we can probably be there. I just need to know the registration fee before I can present it to our head mentor. It sounds fantastic, and so far the team list looks exciting.

I want to absolutely apologize for not getting this public sooner then we did.

The cost per teams is still $200 as it has been in years past.

We're really glad to hear your looking into coming, and hope things work out and that we'll see you in June.

Just hit 22 a few minutes ago, which means we only have 2 spots left. So don't wait much longer to sign up, cause there's going to be a lot of fun you won't want to miss.

The current list of attending teams is located here:

Today we are exactly one month out from the event! Everyone's getting very excited, and I gotta say things are shaping up to look like we'll have an amazing event!

Anyway I just really wanted to bump this thread now that the excitement from Champs has died down so we can get the discussion going! :D

Earlier this week we emailed in with regrets that we needed to pull out this year. It's the same date as our senior prom.

We are still listed as participating, though, so the next team on the wait list should have been notified.

It's unfortunate things fell like that, but it's completely understandable. Hopefully we'll see you next year.

Don't worry 2064 was notified. We just haven't had a chance to get the website updated until now.

We were looking forward to it. WIWI is where things first started coming together for us in the Breakaway season.

We thought we could use the opportunity to give our new drivers a taste of competition, but it just wasn't coming together and we didn't want to wait to the last minute.

So we had another planning meeting done, and a lot of things were accomplished. Team contacts, make sure to check your e-mail for the full run down, but there's just a few things I want to get out here on CD.

The 666 Mentor Robot is going to be the 228 twin this year. It is quite a fantastic machine, and I'm very interested to see it in the hands of our friends from "down below" ;) . We'll be running it just as we have in past years, with mentors being able to sign up to play with or against their teams.

We finalized our Human Player Game. The game this year is called "Around The World". We have all of the game rules posted here on our website (http://max1071.com/wiwi/hp_game). Sign ups will be available the day of the Invitational. Also Kyle Twarog and I should be making a video showing you how to play the game within the next few weeks.

We also will be continuing our use of the Double Elimination Bracket. Since this gives us a little more flexibility on how many alliances we can have in eliminations, we have increased the vent from 25 teams to 29 teams. However all teams (except 228 and 1071) have a guarantee of being in eliminations.

Just 17 days until the big day!

defiantly? Sounds like the TorMentors will have a tough time of it. However, it looks like we're definitely attending as a team this year. I'm looking into a six-pack of brimstone for the 666 team too.

Well it's Friday and we're in the middle of set-up, but theres a few things we wanted to go over.

Behind the Scences: For those who were wondering, the field arrived at the venue last Monday from Boston (This is the same field that was at BattleCry and Beantown Blitz). We held it over in storage until Yesterday Afternoon at which point we put together the majority (Bridges still have to go in) of the physical field as well as began to ran AV. Today we run all of the field electronics, put in the bridges, run AV, set-up the pits, and anything else that needs to be done to the Venue before tomorrow.

Load-In Night: Once we complete setting up, (or have the majority of things done), teams can come down to the Venue to load in and run practice mathches. This gives us a chance to make sure everything is running right, practice our prodcedures, etc. We should have a webcast running of the practice matches tonight, so make sure to check it out!

Reminder Doors Open at 7 and opening is at 9 tomorrow.

Last but not least if you can't make the action, make sure to watch the webcast of the event. Here:

http://www.max1071.com/drupal6/wiwi/webcast

I'll see everyone at opening!
