I know Autodesk has their own, but I can't figure out how to even compile an image sequence or put audio in. Typically I just use Windows Live Movie Maker, but it doesn't do .mov (which can be solved by converting it later). So I was just curious as to what other teams use and if you had suggestions as to free programs out there.

We just ran into the same problem. We have put it together using Windows Movie Maker, so how do you go about converting it into a .mov file?

WinFF is probably the most well-known free option: http://winff.org

It does a number of both audio and video formats, I've used it in years past. My main concern is if WMM can do multiple audio channels well. I don't know how we're going to be laying that out quite yet.

I use Adobe products such as After Effects and Premiere, both can export .MOV format files. What I do is I render the animation and output as an image sequence then I import the sequence into After Effects and composite it there.

I tried to use Adobe Premiere but the quick time presets are different than the submission requirements. When I tried to create a custom preset, I got an API Failure error. Is there any way to fix that?
