Here is a picture and video of Team 340's 2012 Robot (it's name is still in the works).
Some stats:
- 6WD West Coast drive system with AM Super Shifters and Wedge Top Tread
- Primary 2-point shooter (could score low, but not planning on it)
- Scores from the fender only- either in front or from the sides (4 scoring locations)
- Can push down the bridge to cross the field
- Has a wide harvester/collector that comes down over the front bumper, while it scores over the rear of the robot
- Weighs about 118 lbs.
Our 2012 release video can be found here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vni7UpNF6pE).

Very cool approach, I saw another bot on here with the same type of mechanism. How do you plan to deal with ball jamming in the hoops? Can you control the output?
Good luck!

Thanks Stogi!
If ball jamming becomes an issue we can pulse the output to break up the timing. Hopefully we won't have to though

This has got to be the most creative scoring machine I have seen yet.
Good job on thinking outside the box for an effective harvester and 2 pt. basket scorer!

Cool! I was hoping to see something like this. Consistently and quickly scoring 2 point shots is much better than consistently missing 3 point shots, which I think a lot of teams will do.
EDIT: 3->2
Solid as always guys. Can't wait to see it in action a couple of weeks from now.
That is amazing. I didn't originally think that this could be a winning approach, but you've done it so well that I am rethinking everything I thought I knew about this game. Phenomenal job. I'd say good luck, but I know you won't need it.

I just really love this robot
Brilliant. Simplicity at its finest.

Really nice robot, guys. I always love seeing what 340 puts on the field. I can't wait to see this thing in action.
My only question is, have you guys tested the possibility of holding more than 3 balls? Your dumper only has room for 3, but it looks like there may be room for an extra ball between acquisition roller and dumper, unless I'm just not seeing something.
See you guys at Finger Lakes, and good luck later on at Buckeye!

Awesome job guys! I cannot wait to see it in person!

FLR teams, start coming up with your strategies now. 340 will be definitely be one of the top teams dominating the field this year. Great strategy and phenomenally executed guys. Can't wait to see you in a few weeks.

I'm looking at all of this upset because I was too far away to be apart of it, but amazed at what the new blood has done for the team. I'm totally jealous of everyone who was able to be involved this year. Keep up the good work guys, I will be watching live online and will be cheering you on from my dorm room (and classes). Hopefully the Marketing Team had a successful season as well ;) . I miss you all!

i agree... good job guys! and good luck at the competition! ;)

Yes but when we retract the rollers we reverse the rollers to get any balls out of the way!
Looking forward to FLR!

Hey - Don't you know you're supposed to throw them into the baskets from past half court? They count more that way, don't they? Er, on second thought maybe not...
Nice machine. You'll score a lot more with this than a shooter that takes a lot of time to collect and line up, then misses one out of three (or more) shots. Its all about cycle time and scoring percentage.

Chance of 340 doing well at FLR: 100%.
This is a fantastic robot that I'm honored to be competing with. Can't wait to see you there!

Hahaha, that's too funny... but it's so true!

Exactly! That came up early in our discussions! If a shooter misses one ball, they can score a maximum of 6 points between their last two shots. And when we make all three, we'll be at six points too. So we'll see how it goes! We're excited!
Thanks for all the kind words everyone!
