The Robowranglers are proud to present our 2012 robot: SCORPION.
Just a little teaser, this year, though:

I always look forward to 148's videos because I'm always too far away to see the robot in person. What was the reasoning behind the decision not to showcase your robot?

As always looks to be a beautifully designed and realized machine from 148. Hope we can see some more soon!

Just decided we were going to keep things a little more under wraps this season. We wanted to keep people guessing a little bit ;) Besides, you'll be able to see it in action on the webcast from San Antonio next week!
I do hope that the RoboWranglers will post a release video of their 2012 robot at some point. Sometimes when things aren't so great with our robot I will sit down and watch the previous release videos still on youtube. The music, the robot and the fun the RoboWranglers seem to have gets me inspired again.

You know it isn't reveal season until 148 comes out! Looks fantastic, as usual!

I too miss the full video. Regardless of not showing it before season - any way we can get one during/after? Theyre really motivational especially for new members. And it was becoming a FIRST tradition :P

I miss the long videos. I still think Raptor was the coolest robot last season due to the design that I saw documented and demonstrated effectively.

Oh, how I have awaited the day for the 148 video to be released... ;)
Very well done. The red lights and the black metal are always a classic. That final inbounder shot was also quite intimidating; points will certainly be made towards the end.
Can't wait to see you guys.

Another awesome Robowrangler machine! Can't wait to see it in action.
I would say there is more in the video than you think, if you look hard enough.
Nice shot Colin.
I just watched the video at 1/4 speed to figure out what's going on on this robot. Here is what I've figure out, hope the robowranglers don't mind, but I figure it is fair game because it's in the video.
-8 wheel drive
-You were prototyping a helper arm to assist you in keeping the bridge balance by touching the ground
-It looks like you are shooting from the fender but I could be mistaken. If you are and that is your strategy I would love it because that would make me feel better about our strategy.
-Your robot is going to be awesome as always.

I think it's funny that someone posting in 148's 2011 thread last night got 16 replies in less then an hour, but the real robot has hasn't even had that many replies in almost 3 hours.

I noticed that too! As always, awesome work Robowranglers! The best clip I could find from the video is below. Looks like a well built machine!

I would not be surprised to see this, as someone from 148 posted questions in the Q/A related to this exact function. :-)
Nice shot Colin.
Colin Doby is my hero.

Colin Doby is my hero. The best part is that shot was the very first attempt we filmed.
There was almost a Diet Coke spit take off camera at 0:42; too bad we didn't catch that on video.

I heard he practiced all day for that shot.

Not really, only for a few minutes. But he did miss about 40 shots after he made that one, trying to do it again.

The lights are nice.
I'm getting carpel tunnel double clicking the play/pause button fast enough to see all of the photos. There's an awesome overall picture at the 28-second mark.

Joe, I knew it was only a matter of time before it was released. Now that I have some WiFi in the airport, I can post again.
First off, 148 you guys never cease to amaze me (and the rest of the FIRST community). I am really digging the video even though I haven't been able to slow it down and really analyze it enough to get much out of it.
I am sure I will sit down and try to reverse engineer this year's design much like I have the past few years. I must say that plate gears are amazing and I have learned a lot from them. I wonder what "breakthrough" you guys have made this year, I am sure I will have it remade at work like I did last years lower arm that raised the scoring arm.
I, like many others, really hope that you release a full length video again. Even if it midway through the season or even the end of the season.
Goodluck and hopefully I can see you guys at Champs again!

Maybe there is no try, there is just - do. And he did. And it was amazing.

Ah, Colin, you just had to. Now I can't wait to see the showdown in San Anton.
There is a very interesting mechanism on the back of your robot. I notice that there's only 1 or 2 shots where it is sort of visible...
and I think I know what it's for...:yikes:
