Does anyone know if the event will be webcast again?
There will be a link on the oregonfirst.org website this week for the webcast. The cast is made possible by a donation from Elemental Technologies.
Local Seattle tv station King/Kong just did a piece featuring the Skunks.

Nice touch showing past robots from Lunacy and Breakaway balanced on the ramp!
Good luck to everyone competing in the Rose City!

Best wishes from 2865 - with the Spokane Event opening - and how much 'fun' there is in fundraising (it is only 27.3% of the word after all) we're not coming west this year. We will have one member running around over there, so if you see her - say "Hi Claire!" North Idaho will be well represented, I'm sure, by CDA High and Bonners Ferry.
You'll all be in the pits soon, and we have to look at our baby through a plastic bag for many more weeks!

First time in the nation!
Not quite. It happened last week in KC (see this post (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1139070&postcount=31)).

Our announcer said that it was the first time in the nation and I hadn't or heard anything to the contrary, but thanks for setting this straight.

Good luck Bearbotics (2439) and alliance 4. You make Hawaii proud with great improvement and performance throughout the qualification matches.

Great work to our Hawaii Teams from Maui, 2439 and 2443, for doing us proud.
And, congrats to the 8th seeded alliance (3711, 360, 956) for winning the Autodesk Oregon Regional with the Triple Balance Act!

Congratulations indeed. The drama of the second finals match was really exciting to watch. 3711 looked dead, just like in the first finals match. A push from their alliance partners appeared to get them moving, but things still weren't working right. This happened a couple more times. In the end, 3711 was pushed over to the bridge, 3711 lowered the bridge with their arm, and 360 & 956 pushed 3711 up the bridge for the triple balace. :ahh: Six triple balances, six victories. Great work!
I had a great time and am very proud of what we managed to do. Also, let it never be said that Portland doesn't have the best extended dance parties :P

Thanks so much for the recap.
I actuallly missed that entire match. I was watching the webcast on my iPhone, but it kept cutting to prior matches (like they might have been editing for archiving). It seemed to happen throughout the eliminations.
Did anyone else have this problem?

Does anyone know where I can find any videos from the Portland Finals. Thanks everyone for the congrats on the victory. Good summary, it just so happened that we got bumped at the same time that I switched the order of our joysticks so that's how we started working in game #2 of the final round, and yes very nerve racking to try to balance 3 on a bridge with 35 seconds left.
If anyone has any idea where I could find video of all or any of the playoff it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Just a quick shout out to whoever was the DJ for the competition. I kept jamming out to the various techno, dance, and electronic songs that were being played during the competition. Who ever the man or woman was, they have a great taste in music.

We really wanted to beat them even with the triple balance :P but after finals match 1 our hybrid started shooting balls over the backboard instead of into the hoop, and we couldn't make up enough points in tele-op. Still though, it was incredibly close, exciting and painfully nerve-racking.
Congratulations to teams 360, 956 and 3711 you all did a fantasic job and were a real cinderella story. I esspecially liked how 956's bridge manipulator hooked onto 3711's bumper to keep them from falling off during the triple balance :P

We had a great time in Portland but seeing this team come back from the long time out and still put up the triple balance with one alliance member barely working was something I will never forget. It happened right in front of our driver station and it was amazing.
Great job!! A well deserved win by three great teams!! 3711, 360 and 956!!
We hope to see you guys again in St. Louis!!
Thank you to both teams 2046 and 2443 for a great run into the finals and for being an all around class act to work with..... !!
Thank you Portland for a great time!!

Like Bob Steele said, it will be a very long time before I forget watching our alliance work together to get the barely functional 3711 machine to the bridge, then up the bridge. I thought all was lost when they went too far and tipped past. But a few pulses of the drive trains and a level bridge was suddenly there.
Honestly, the honor of playing in the finals against such a strong alliance as 1983, 2046 and 2443 would have been enough for us. But the robot gods smiled on us.
Special thanks to 3711 and 956 for being such great partners.
And also thanks to all the teams. Portland is a special place, even Blair pointed that out.
TODAI. !!!

I guess it was OK to loose:ahh: to you... seriously congrats on winning a real nail biter.
And oh yeah it's Portlandia.
See you in Seattle, I guess I can put up with you for another 3 days (or hopefully 6) this year.

This was our best showing ever, and the first time I can remember actually being physically nervous on the field. The long delays did not help. You guys were tough, with 24 points in auto we were worried that you might get too much of a lead in the baskets to make it up on the ramp. It was certainly a nail biter.
Before the first finals match I told our team that even if our robot burst into flames and was left a pile of ash on the field it would still be our best showing ever, we had only made it to the semifinals previously.
I hope we can make it to St. Louis, we have about 31 hours left to raise $4K more we need for the entry.
thanks portland for another great regional :D

After last year we figured out that a lot of our sponsors were willing to help out more because we made it to St. Louis. Try old sponsors with the new scenario, try the schools you are attached to even if they don't have the money, they may be able to get the word out that you need money! Get the word out there and people will help out. :] Great job on the win and good luck with the money! See most of you in Seattle!

We came to that conclusion - it was something not to be missed. A major sponsor from years ago came through with a $5K donation, so we are registered and going. Now we have a slightly less frantic time to raise the travel funds. Our problem with the registration fee was mostly timing - it seems 1.5 working days after the event to raise $5K is just too short, but it did help focus the effort :-).

RingBearerPi posted some YouTube videos (with HD resolution to 1080p) here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qWOiARdkbU&feature=related).
Oregon FIRST has been uploading videos from the entire competition throughout the day. The elimination tournament got uploaded first followed by the qualifying matches. The elimination order is a little messed up but it looks like everything is there.
