Team 1251 will be one of the hometown host teams and will be at the regional in full force. We are glad to have a new regional so close to us. If anyone has any questions regarding the area around or specifics about the event please feel to respond in this thread or pm me. Looking forward to the inaugural South Florida Regional.

We're excited to be meeting the Florida teams!

Would there be any interest for attending a NEMO (Non-Engineering Mentor Organization) meeting? If enough mentors show an interest I will ask the planning committee if we can procure a room. For those of you not familiar with NEMO, visit our website, www.firstnemo.org.

It's been confirmed and all teams have been notified - there will be a NEMO meeting at the South Florida Regional!

The following announcement went out from the Regional Director:

What: NEMO (Non-Engineering Mentor Organization) Mingle
When: Thursday, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. (You are encouraged to come and go as your schedule dictates).
Where: Volunteer lounge on second floor
Who: This meeting is open to any adult, including any mentors, parents, administrators and sponsors, both technical and non-technical!

This will be an opportunity to meet and network with your fellow NEM's. We will be discussing NEMO resources and will have an open discussion, addressing any immediate concerns brought by the group.

I’m excited to be joining the volunteer crew for the inaugural South Florida Regional and look forward to meeting the mentors at the NEMO meeting. Please share this announcement with the mentors on your teams!
~Kathie Kentfield, Director, NEMO
FIRST Senior Mentor, Connecticut

About NEMO: For 8 years the Non-Engineering Mentor Organization has been a support group and information exchange for those adult mentors who help teams as part of the FIRST programs, including JrFLL/FLL/FTC/FRC. NEMO has a central clearinghouse for information. NEMs on teams help with all the behind-the-scenes-glue holding the teams together including mentor recruitment and retention, travel, hotels, meals, parent involvement, fundraising, business plans, public relations, community service, team building and logistics. NEMs help build a team so the team can build a robot. Our membership has grown to over 600 mentors in FIRST!

Joining NEMO: Visit www.firstnemo.org to find out how to join NEMO and the private online forum. There are no dues to join. Visit the "Resources" page to see all the papers written by NEMO members.

I'll be there! I'm looking forward to the first official South Florida competition. I'm just glad that it's indoors where it cant be touched by hurricane feeder bands like some of the off season comps of yesteryear!

Can't wait to see everyone!

Pit Map was released a few days ago. Cant wait to see how the inaugural South Florida Regional is gonna be; pretty cool too that we are located next to one of the northern teams heading down. It's also really cool that that same team, I think Team 1735, is also going to be webcasting the regional.

Greetings Teams,
If you're looking for something to do Friday and/or Saturday evening after the awards ceremony, Boomers has put together a special offer for FIRST teams attending the South Florida Regional.

For $20 you get 3 hours of unlimited bumper boats, go karts, miniature golf, rock wall, and laser tag!

Boomers is located right around the corner from the FAU campus and you can learn more about them here (http://www.boomersparks.com).

A flyer is attached as well.

Now this is a really good idea for teams!! It's a really fun Boomers! Admittedly many will be doing scouting meetings on Friday night, but that's typically not the whole team, and there's Saturday. If you want something fun for your team to do, I would say this is a no brainer.

So now that I have had sometime to gather my thoughts about this regional, here it goes. First, I want to thank each one of the volunteers for coming out to this event and making it a success. I would like to thank Mrs. E. Kamen for her presence at the event specifically. Shout out to teams 801 and 665 for being great alliance partners, we enjoyed working with you guys. Congratulations to the winning alliance of 1592,180 and 3627 you all were great all competition long. To teams 1902,1065 thank you guys for helping 1251 get back up and running quickly after our little turret set back. Props to 1902 also for winning engineering inspiration. Krunch 79 you guys as always are a class act, very deserving of yet another regional chairman's award in 2012. I look forward to the South Florida Regional again next year and appreciate all the good feedback about the competition from the teams.
