Hello all,

Rookie team here. We're trying to pick a shipping company to ship our robot.

I wanted to know what other teams usually use. Are the bigger shipping companies reliable and give insurance?

Do they have limitations for crate size? Should we go through a smaller trucking company instead?

We need to make arrangements today, Friday. Thanks guys.

OH, and how much do teams usually spend here? Shipping can cost upto $1500 the last time we checked... is there a cheaper way?

We have shipped our robot from Florida to Houston and Detroit. Shipping costs were $300 to $500. Usually it is cheaper to ship by air rather than truck. We used Eagle Air. Sometimes the robot was on the same plane as the team.

If you have a lockable shipping crate, you may consider driving the robot yourself. It's cheaper to pay a team members gas money. Get another team to certify that it is out of your hands. Make sure you clear everything with FIRST first.

Hope this helps.
