We had fun this season and sorry to see our season over. This brings me to my question, does anyone know where the off season events would be, specifically in the Mid-Atlantic area.

Thanks in advance.

The Mid Atlantic is a hot bed for Off-Seasons!

There is Beantown Blitz in Boston
BattleCry in WPI in Worcester (though they might be full)
Monty Madness in Montgomery
Duel on the Delaware (the location escapes me)
Ramp Riot (hosted by 341)
I know 222 did PARC for a while, but I don't know if they are doing it this year.

You have plenty to choose from!

I think Duel on the Delaware is at Salem Community College in Carneys Point, NJ. At least, that's where it was last year.

If you're willing to gas up the bus a bit or hop aboard the Amtrak Silver Star, SCRIW (http://scriw.org) is held in Columbia, South Carolina. (Columbia was the original home of the Palmetto Regional; New Jersey teams reached the finals every year it was held there. You've got a leg up already!)

Don't forget Brunswick Eruption in lovely North Brunswick, NJ! The event is typically held the first Saturday of November.

EDIT: I can confirm that the 2012 date is November 3rd.

Actually...

Rumble at the Rock, the original postseason competition (Massachusetts), disappeared when Plymouth North H.S. took a long hiatus from FRC. Now that they're back, I wonder if the Rumble will return...

And if you aren't watching Indiana's IRI, you're really missing out.

If you have enough female members for an all girl pit crew/drive team, 433 hosts GirlPOWER during the first or second weekend in October. We are located in Flourtown, PA and we would love to have you.

If you want to travel to Ohio, the 3rd annual Connect A Million Minds invitational (http://www.growrobotics.org) will be held at Dublin Coffman HS this year (a venue change to allow more teams) outside Columbus. The school is less than a mile from I-270 and ten minutes from both I-70 and I-71. The new venue also has nearby hotels (again less than a mile) and food. Still air conditioned!

6th annual Battle O' Baltimore, Sept. 15, at a school near the Baltimore Beltway. Website will be up after we sign off on the paperwork.

This is also the bicentennial of the Maryland War of 1812 with 2 years of activities in the area as well as the anniversary of the other Battle of Baltimore. http://starspangled200.org/History/Pages/Welcome.aspx

Again? How are they gonna raise money to operate without their primary fundraiser?

And if you aren't participating in (playing or volunteering) Indiana's IRI, you're really missing out.Fixed that for you ;). There's nothing quite like participating in IRI.

Ed: Yeah, I don't know, though I was impressed and and pleased to find out.

We have our Where's Wolcott Invitational in June up here in CT, although we are currently full, we only have 2 on the wait list, so always an option.

Also I know the Techno Ticks in October hold Bash at the Beach in Old Saybrook CT. It's another good off-season even for the Northeast.

Sure PARC is a big loss for everyone including our wallet, but we will manage our funding one way or another.

Unfortunately PARC had to be ultimately canceled last year due to lack of attending teams and we decided this year not to continue PARC.

Will PARC return at some point? Perhaps.

The are multiple reasons why this decision was made.

PARC was always held the day before Mothers Day. As FIRST grew the date of Championships got pushed back making PARC be too soon after Championships. Changing the date also isn't just a simple as changing the date because of the dates of other off seasons and other events taking place such as proms and school testing.

Also there is only a partial handful of teams within one and a half hours from our event. This means that other teams that want to attend must travel between 2 and 4+ hours to get to us which some teams do not want to do because they can attend many other off season events within a short distance from their home base.

Also as it was mentioned that PARC was NOT the first off season event. However, PARC did set a high standard for other off season events and was running continuously from 1998 to 2010.

222 will still continue to support and attend other off seasons in our area.

You can get more information on the Ruckus Website here (http://ruckus.penfieldrobotics.com/).
The 2012 date & competition information is not posted yet, but you can use the Contact Us page to get a hold of the committee. Its usually at the end of October, in keeping with the Halloween theme :)

Hi Jim,
We are currently in the process of finalizing the venue for the event. Once we get the venue finalized we will have a date set. Right now the best I can give you is that we are looking at mid October as the time frame for Ruckus. Please contact me if you would like anymore information and feel free to check the Ruckus website after Championships for updates.

Thanks!

The video stream for the 2012 Connect A Million Minds FIRST Robotics Invitational (Saturday June 23, 2012) will be housed at: http://www.vid.etechohio.net/

It is our understanding that they will keep the link up for a while afterward. As usual, we will burn a DVD for each of the participating teams (and we are going with a different crew than last year, with one result being that the DVDs should be available much more quickly).

I also believe the Big Apple off-season event is going to return for 2012, but I am not certain. It is hosted at Francis Lewis High School by team 3017 and it is usually held in mid October.

It is not in the Mid Atlantic Region but the WMRI is in south west lower Michigan.
It is a one day Saturday event. We are limited to 24 teams but would love to have some teams from outside Michigan compete. We will be giving away 2 FRC batteries, A Multi Battery Charger and a Battery Beak as door prizes. We have reserved one of these for the team that travels the farthest. Check out the following link for further details and registration.

Hey can anyone from Francis Lewis confirm or deny the existence of a New York "Big Apple" scrimmage for rebound rumble?

I heard, through the grapevine, that it won't be around in 2012. We were planning on going if it did indeed happen. Seems like they hesitated to get the ball rolling on inviting teams and then just decided to shut down from lack of interest from other teams.

NYC could really use an every year off-season event, I just wish our school would let us host one. There may be something in the works for a week 0 event at Brooklyn Tech, team 334's school, and maybe that will have an off-season event tied with it for 2013 but not for this off-season.
