I didn't think it was available yet?

Downloaded App and it works fine. The search seams to only be by team name.

Key volunteers have access to the pit map right now. I can share for now that it looks like pits are 10x10 and all 4 divisions are in halls 4 and 5, with Arch closest to dome, followed by Cur, Gal and then Newton farthest away. Mind you this isn't "official".

I was able to find it on the App Store by searching for aisle411. "FIRST Robotics" (sans quotes) is the name of the app.

Last year the entrance point to the team walkway to the dome extended out to the boundry between halls 4 and 5, so that one division pit area was not drastically closer to the fields than another.

I emailed the developer in St. Louis and they are adding team numbers today or tomorrow.

On the FIRST Robotics app it says "Load-in B" is at the Plaza entrance at the corner of 7th and Convention Plaza road. We're just bringing our stuff on Metrolink so is this where we'd enter Wednesday night since we don't have a truck?

I still can't tell where the pit map will be posted once the numbers are added. Can someone link me?

You would think the pit map would be posted at http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/championship-event but you never know. Most of this discussion was about the FIRST Robotics app for iPhone and Android that already has it. Those maps have team numbers now, you just can't search for them, just by team name, for the time being.

Thank you. I'm not smart enough to have a smart phone.

FRC quiet area? Interesting. "Make it Loud!" and all that... ;)

Mobile-Friendly Championship Website: A new, mobile-friendly website containing helpful Championship information has been released: http://championship2012.usfirst.org.If this was truly a mobile-friendly website, they wouldn't have a 150kb to 200kb image header on every page. ;)

That being said, I wish the rest of the FIRST website was as straight forward as this mobile website.

I like how the Hall of Fame space is about 1/4 of the size of a bathroom and 1/5 the size of the FIRST store...

Wow, I poured over that map for 10 minutes before I could even find the HOF space.

This isn't a response to your post, but rather a point of comparison: "The Chairman’s Award is FIRST’s most prestigious award . . . The Chairman’s Award helps keep the central focus of the FIRST Robotics Competition on the goal of inspiring greater levels of respect and honor for science and technology."

With this layout, the Chairman's award winners are only the central focus between the First store and Scholarship booth. :D

I like how the Hall of Fame space is about 1/4 of the size of a bathroom and 1/5 the size of the FIRST store...I don't think that is the actual HoF space. That must be a display about HoF teams rather than the actual HoF. They each set up a pit sized display, no way does that fit there!

We are not being given the space we previously had. Each team is getting a banner provided by FIRST showing the year we won and a team photo, along with a 24" diameter cocktail table style arrangement.

It's pretty much an embarrassment. I didn't think they could make it worse than last year where it was shoved off in a corner, but this might take the cake.

So, as teams, do we all need to complain that we do not like the new format?

I'm going to hold off until I see it myself...but I don't like the sound of it.

Let's get there and take a look, and if it looks sad you can give Bill a note in his box.

Teams may leave their questions for Bill in the "Notes for Bill" box on the FRC stage in the second floor atrium of the America’s center prior to each show. Bill will answer as many questions as possible at the end of each session.

Since we're not (yet) a hall of fame team I don't have any standing in this. I must say in Atlanta I felt sorry for the kids from HOF teams who were expected to man their booths even though few people ever stopped to talk to them. This is our first year in St. Louis so itr sounds like last year was quite a step down from Atlanta.

Maybe there's a better way to honor these teams all year round? Perhaps there could be a section of the FIRST website where each team can post a summary of their team. Maybe videos from all the HOF teams could be run during down times on the field. Much as I love one more round of YMCA, learning about all the HOF teams would be a nice change. Maybe those HOF videos could run at all the regionals as well.

Its pretty sad. We were told of the layout awhile ago. I think few if any HoF teams are happy about this.

Geez, and here we are spending so much time trying to figure out how we were going to fill up the space and bring it all from Hawaii, only to find out no work necessary.

I guess we spent all that money and manpower for nothing. FIRST should have communicated to ALL of the HOF teams their plans as soon as they knew!

Curious that Curie is showing 88 in the "pit map" diagram. Maybe there are revisions yet to come.

It's very interesting and makes me wonder if this map is incomplete. The FIRST Website (http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frc/championship-event) shows 100 teams from each division, meaning that they're 14 pits short (there's an empty pit in the top left of Newton). I really hope that they give us 10'x10' pits, but with this layout and the shortage it might almost be hard to come by.

Mark McLeod

Count the pits, there are 400 of them.
