The 76 teams listed below are invited to the 2012 I.R.I.
We had tough choices with many excellent teams applying. We believe we have a strong, well rounded group of teams and are excited about the level of competition. Thank you to all teams who applied.
The "acceptance" page of the IRI website will be open on Thursday evening about 6 pm. You must go to the website and accept your invitation. We will send you an invoice after your acceptance and you can pay by paypal or by mailing a check.
You can elect to make a voluntary donation to the IRI Teams scholarship fund and that can be included on the invoice.
The entry fee is $700 plus a filled backpack for an elementary school student.

I wonder what amazing elimination matches will result from the amazing line up. There definitely will be matches that will be won by one tele-op basket.

I'm bummed that Los Pollos Locos didn't get an invitation, but I can't find any fault at all with the list as presented. Good luck to all the teams!

This is going to be an insane event. In past years it seemed like there were 2-10 robots that were quite far above the rest. This year I really don't see that. I can see an interesting 2nd pick based not on shooting but feeding and speed to the coop bridge in hybr...autonomous.
While I'm disappointed 910 won't be appearing this year, I can see why. This is an awesome group of teams. Good luck to all the teams!
Pretty cool to see 4 Florida teams on this list. It is sad though that we aren't seeing the big one on the list. This is gonna be our 3rd IRI and we are hoping for this to be our best to date.
Wow, what an impressive list. When teams as good as 11 and 1625 are left out, you know you're talking about an accomplished field. Should be an amazing event!

WOW! This an incredible list! I am so happy to be apart of the teams that will be attending! This will be the first time 77who has attended IRI!
Team 1023 is very excited to be invited to our 1st IRI tournament! Looking forward to this new experience! Thanks for the invite!
Team 2834 is super excited and grateful we are invited also. This is also our first time. Thanks.
FIRST Team 68 looks forward to returning to IRI. We look forward to competing with all of these great teams.
Not a single 2011 team made it onto this list... interesting.

Congrats to 68 and 330 for making the list. You guys were great alliance partners on Newton, and I would say 68 was the darkest horse of the entire Championships. They peaked at the right time, I hope they can keep the peak through IRI.

this is going to be a fun off season event; we already are getting things ready for the silent auction, we have two squishy pigs signed by NASA Astronauts and one signed by Dean himself! and maybe another BACON basket from ThinkGeek.com :ahh:

Unfortunate to see 11 not on the list, I thought they would have made the cut. Of the 50 teams who played in Championship eliminations and applied to IRI, 49 got in..11 was the unlucky number 50.
Good to see plenty of other teams to cheer for though! Good luck to the folks representing the east coast.

Now to see who takes up on Bomb Squand and ATA's strategies, and see who dives for a wide feeder bot first. Is it too risky to take a feeder as a first pick, and a shooter as a second? At any other competition it would be, but with such a deep field, you might be able to take the gamble and pay off big. Any predictions on super alliances yet? I'm feeling 1114+469+2826+someone as the champs. After a strong performance on Archimedes, 1114 was plagued by bad luck on Einstein and walked away with a single gold (But kept an eye on the big prize) and are itching for redemption. As their first pick, their old friends 469 will be more than willing to bring their super sonic shooter to the courts. 2826, after falling to 1114 in three intense matches on Archimedes, will prove to be the decisive third pick. They're good, but with such a deep field, may fall short on the seeding.

And it begins :yikes:
Though, I'm really a 2056 fan, and would absolutely love to see them win IRI for a second year in a row. I think that with seeding 2nd on Archimedes, and with the crazy upset they pulled over 1114 at GTRWest F1, they could put together an alliance to upset what I previously predicted. Gotta stay faithful to the team I love.

744 SHARK ATTACK is sooooo ready to attend our first ever IRI. We're gonna step up our game even more, and I promise we'll be tripling by then. Our first ever attempt at a triple was in the Galileo finals, and it was with 2 longs and a wide, and we were sooooo close to pulling it off. We're definitely going to be adding balancing features, and practicing with them before we get there. As a driver, it was probably the most exciting thing I've tried.
Will any of the recommendation letters be shared publicly?

I am extremely honored and thankful that three NEOFRA teams have been invited.
I know that 48 is going to enjoy the heck out of IRI as always (after a short jaunt up to Michigan for MARC - can't wait for that either!). We're giving our senior drive team one final run for glory - they've earned it. The newbies get to have fun next fall at some event up Rochester way. I hear it's also a fairly decent and fun competition. ;)
FRC2168 is honored to have the chance to compete at this years IRI. The team list is impressive, and we are looking forward to the excellent learning experience.
As a side note I am happy to see some other New England and EWCP representation.

1038 is extremely dissapointed to have not been invited. We have been invited the last 5 or 6 years and always enjoy attending, competing and watching the best teams. Making new friends and strengthening others. You may still see a few of us tye-dye folks on Saturday.

Team 3193 Falco Tech is grateful and honored to receive their first IRI invitation, and we thank the Selection Committee for this opportunity. This is our St. Louis, and our team is looking for one last big dance!
Congratulations also go out to our fellow NEOFRA teams: Team 48, Delphi E.L.I.T.E., and Team 379, The Robocats!

In 2007, 2008 & 2010 Team 2056 was a second round pick at IRI. In 2011, 67 was a second round pick. Anything is possible at IRI.
There is no wait list apparently this year, so all of you better go.

Quoted for truth. In 2011, I want to say it was 3/4 defending IRI champs didn't make the elims. The 4th hasn't paid for IRI in two years--they won again.
At IRI, NOBODY is almost guaranteed a spot in the eliminations (unless they seed top 8). The competition is just that good!

I'd like to bet that its more about who's driving at IRI than just that there's good teams attending.
I'd like to bet that its more about who's driving at IRI than just that there's good teams attending.
Who said anything about the teams being good? I specified the competition. (While the competition does include the robots, and the teams, both of which are usual IRI quality or better, it also includes the drive teams of those teams, and the other side events.)
The competition is just that good!
I think we have this year's IRI motto.

Alliances can be insane, just a quick guess at how some of these super alliances could form.
Alliance Captain 1st pick 2nd pick 3rd pick
1 67 341 111 125
2 2056 1114 973 2168 (Had to put the eh team together)
3 2826 118 3098 48
4 469 33 3322 68
5 148 359 25 1714
6 254 233 744 16
7 1718 2337 51 1023
8 1538 330 217 71
I don't see anything wrong with any of the picks made. #1 alliance has the hybrid king and queen and wildstangs as a second pick! 2 all michigan alliances (4 and 7) have formed. 217 (my vote for best robot not at championship) goes as a 24th pick then takes 71, the other missing robot! All this and I'm still missing a ton of amazing teams. I am a little michigan based in this but I went with teams I knew. Sorry if I didn't include your team in this, again just went with teams I knew! Also I bet all of these could triple balance!

Sorry I missed that, fixed now! And I left us out because I hate judging how good/bad my own team is. I hope we'll be playing in the afternoon, another post had us as the 5th seed captains, same place we ended up last year.

Actually, you only got 2/3 of the Eh-Team. 4334 as third/fourth pick on that alliance--if someone else doesn't get to them first.
I'm not going to make any predictions. It's just a really good field as usual.

Head's up, teams. It's time to help out IRI with the upcoming 2012 IRI Quilt. Check it out. mrs. p. needs some help here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106159).
I'll find a photo of one of the IRI quilts from another season and post it. They are amazing and really help to raise the needed monies for the charities. Thing is, the quilt needs you. For those of you attending for the first time, you will be very impressed with the way the event planners display the back packs and showcase the quilt. They always seem to be where the teams are at the event, helping to make their presence known and felt.
This (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/31773) is one example of an IRI Quilt. This one is a little larger than 'puppy size'. :)
If you respond about sending a shirt for the quilt, please do so in the 2012 Quilt thread that Chris has created.

Just try to give a close estimate.
We want to be sure we have enough for everyone who stays, but don't want to have way too much either.
Extra food is donated to a homeless shelter in downtown Indy so very little is "wasted".

I like those predictions for us, it would be an autonomous flurry. I could easily see that alliance putting up 42-48 in auto. And playing with pink is extremely fun! :D But something tells me bomb squad won't fall to a 3rd pick (4th robot).
They did not apply.
Aww sadface. They're always pretty good to watch.

1986 was definitely one of my five favorite robots this year. I loved their virtual 4-bar stinger.

Maybe, just maybe we can make up for GKC? Sounds like a plan to me!
That sounds good to me!!!

Extra food is donated to a homeless shelter in downtown Indy so very little is "wasted".
Wow. Just another incredible reason why this event is amazing. Kudos to all involved.
