Hi everyone,

We have some exciting BE updates!

For starters, the Brunswick Eruption website has received a new look. Check it out at http://be.raiderrobotix.org/.

Next, volunteer sign-ups are starting to trickle in. If you’re interested in joining our team, fill out the volunteer form (http://be.raiderrobotix.org/volunteer.html) on the website. Some available positions include referees, queuing, field reset, photographers, field set-up/take-down, and much more. The form is short and open-ended, so let us know how you would like to help!

BE is filling up quickly. As of today, we have 22 registered teams:

25 Raider Robotix
222 Tigertrons
224 The Tribe
271 Mechanical Marauders
303 TEST Team
341 Miss Daisy
358 Robotic Eagles
369 High Voltage
375 The Robotic Plague
533 The PSIcotics
1089 Team Mercury
1143 Cruzin' Comets

2590 Nemesis
3314 Mechanical Mustangs
3607 Technologic
3637 The Daleks
3718 Junkyard Battalion
3929 Atomic Dragons
4281 Bulldogs

An updated team list is being actively maintained on our Event Info (http://be.raiderrobotix.org/event.html) page. If you’ve already registered and don’t see your team listed within 1-2 business days, please send me a PM here or contact (http://be.raiderrobotix.org/contact.html) us via e-mail.

Finally, please “Like” the event on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/BrunswickEruption) and follow @BrunsEruption (https://twitter.com/#!/brunseruption) on Twitter! Let us know what you would like to see at BE this year. Have a rule change suggestion? Idea for a workshop? We want to hear it! :)

Hey, everyone! We are now up to 27 teams registered which means things are filling up really quickly considering we are still ~4.5 months from the event. This, of course, means two things:

Register now (http://be.raiderrobotix.org/register.html) to guarantee you'll have your spot! Don't worry about payment right away--as Mr. Cokeley mentioned in his above post, we will take care of all that when school restarts in the fall.
With this year looking like we will reach our cap of 40 teams, we need all the volunteers we can get! Register to volunteer (http://be.raiderrobotix.org/volunteer.html) to get on board!

Be sure to like us on Facebook (http://facebook.com/BrunswickEruption) and follow us on twitter (http://twitter.com/BrunsEruption) to stay up to date with all the other exciting news as plans are finalized. We are currently working on coming up with some fun rule changes, planning some workshops, and, of course, formulating this year's Evil Sundae recipe.

Mahalo!

Attention teams,

Today registration for Brunswick Eruption 11 reached a record 39 teams!

Since school has just started, we have decided to close open veteran team registration at this time. We will be reserving the remaining 3 spots for potential pre-rookie teams. Veteran teams are encouraged to continue to register online (http://be.raiderrobotix.org/register.html) through the event website and those who do will be placed on a waiting list. As we near closer to the event, if any spots become available, we will invite teams from the waitlist to attend BE on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additionally, an e-mail blast will be sent to the list of currently registered teams, as well as our mailing list (http://be.raiderrobotix.org/subscribe.html), in the near future.

Thank you for your cooperation and for making this the largest Brunswick Eruption yet!

Hey everyone! We have some exciting news from BEHQ!

We are pleased to announce the first ever Brunswick Eruption Facebook Photo Contest. The rules are simple:

Always practice safety first.
All photos must appropriate.
You don’t necessarily have to be in uniform, but it should be obvious which team you are with (i.e. a display of team colors, number, mascot, or some other indicator should be in the photo).
Your photo should feature at least this year’s robot.
Photos must be submitted by midnight on October 27th.
To submit, upload your photo to Brunswick Eruption’s Facebook wall and include your team number in the post.
Be creative! Remember, you’re not just preparing any old off-season—Brunswick Eruption is the ultimate November New Jersey Hawaiian robotics getaway!

Upload your photo to Brunswick Eruption's Facebook wall (http://www.facebook.com/BrunswickEruption) and they will be added to our Facebook Photo Contest album. Full details are available at http://be.raiderrobotix.org/facebookcontest.html.

Each team that enters will receive 50 Aloha Award points and the team with the most likes will earn a whopping 250 points!

Good luck!

If anyone is interested in a collaborative scouting effort:
1640 is going to have a very bare-bones crew at Brunswick (because we're volunteering here (http://wiki.team1640.com/index.php?title=Downingtown_FIRST_LEGO_League_Tune _Up_2012)), but we'd love to loan someone a few scouts hopefully in exchange for sharing information. Even if you wouldn't want to share the actual info, there are several teams with great systems that my scouts would love to work on/learn from. Reply or PM if you're interested! Thank you

Hello all!
I've had the honor of working with the Brunswick Eruption crew this year on volunteer management and some event coordination.

That said, please VOLUNTEER! I've still got some roles to fill.

http://be.raiderrobotix.org/volunteer.html

See you guys soon!

Alexa Stott

I'd also like to remind everyone of the awesome awards we are giving away at this year's BE!

One of them is the Aloha Award, which is a scavenger hunt designed to get teams to show their spirit for their team, FIRST, and BE. Some tasks can be completed at the event, while others require some preparation. The list of challenges is available at http://be.raiderrobotix.org/alohaaward.html.

Secondly, we will be honoring Mike Wade, a longtime NASA employee and friend of FIRST who was a driving force behind the growth of off-seasons in this area. His most notable and outstanding characteristics were his hard work, persistence, and ruthless dedication to FIRST. We encourage teams to submit a 600 word essay nominating a mentor from their team who they believe embodies those characteristics as well. The deadline for the Mike Wade Memorial Award is this Saturday, October 27. Essays can be submitted at http://be.raiderrobotix.org/mikewade.html.

I signed up to volunteer today. First time going back to BE since the borderline-loony 1618+2458=4076 run of 2007 (http://chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/29231). I'm excited!

DonRotolo
25-10-2012, 20:42
That's a shame Billfred, because this year a last minute, unavoidable engagement has me unable to attend BE for the first time in 8 years. But I guess it is good that you're volunteering, I am sure Libby is apreciative.

This is a last call reminder for Mike Wade Memorial Award submissions! Please nominate a mentor from your team at http://be.raiderrobotix.org/mikewade.html if you have not done so already.

Also, if you did not see today's announcement via the BE Twitter (https://twitter.com/brunseruption) or Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/BrunswickEruption) pages, we will be raffling off a brand new iPad mini as well as an 8GB NOOK HD. Raffle tickets will cost $5 each and can be purchased at the event.

A lot of teams have been informing us that they will not be able to access their tools and robots in time for Saturday due to school closures. Additionally, the power situation in North Brunswick is quite finicky and our own school has been closed for the last 4 days. As such, we are postponing Brunswick Eruption, planning to reschedule the event for November 17th.

Please let us know if you will be able to attend the new date. We wish you all a safe and speedy recovery from the hurricane.

An e-mail blast will be sent to teams shortly, followed by a website update.

Brunswick Eruption postponed

With the widespread devastation from Hurricane Sandy and our school sitting powerless we sadly need to postpone BE to November 17th (pending approvals)

Folks wouldn't believe the state of things here in NJ. We know numerous people along the coast who are now homeless. Power MAY be back in the coming week. Many of the major roads are blocked with downed lines and trees.

Anyway we hope to see all 42 teams come back in two weeks. Please pass the word about the change to those you know. Teams please contact either Bharat, Kristian or I to confirm your team's attendance on the 17th. And if you have a team still looking to get in I suspect there will be slots available. Follow the Brunswick Eruption website for the latest news

Hope all is well with our neighbors. Take care of home and family first- then we play robots

Team 341 will make every effort to attend on the 17th and support BE.
I will check with our transportation department when school re-opens.
Should be OK!
Be safe guys!

We anticipate and are definitely looking forward to attending a rescheduled BE if possible. Best wishes to everyone out there and take care! Please tell us if there's anything we can do to help, guys. We fared relatively well out here (downed tree damage, some localized flooding and couple-day power outages), and we want to help everyone get back on track.

I encourage people to like us on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/BrunswickEruption) and/or subscribe (http://be.raiderrobotix.org/subscribe.html) to our email list in order to stay up to date with everything as we move forward to reschedule the event.

Thanks for bearing with us on this one, everyone!

If any event gets a free pass, it's Brunswick Eruption.

The new date clashes with a fundraiser for 2815, so I will have to pass on BE again. But best of luck to everyone in their recovery.

So far we have only heard from about 30 percent of our teams regarding attending the new date of Nov 17th. I know many of the teams are still in the dark or haven't been to their schools yet.

We need to know who will attend and who wont so we can plan and rent tables, etc..

PLEASE let us know ASAP.

The event will go on- if it doesn't kill us first!!

Wayne,

I don't know if Scott contacted you yet, but 222 will be unable to attended due to our annual fundraising event which is scheduled for the 17th.

We decided it would be too difficult to bring a skeleton crew as the fundraiser requires the majority of our small team to run.

222 hopes everyone is recovering quickly from Sandy's east coast destruction. ::ouch::

Thanks to all the teams who have replied so far. We're currently up to 22 confirmed attending teams: http://be.raiderrobotix.org/teams.html

We are still waiting to hear back from the following teams:
369
395
1302
1807
2458
3607
3167
3637

Additionally, we have extended the deadline for Mike Wade Memorial Award submissions to Wednesday, November 14th. Nominations can be submitted at http://be.raiderrobotix.org/mikewade.html.

Again, thanks everyone for your continued support of Brunswick Eruption. We hope to see you at BE on the 17th (or at Ramp Riot tomorrow)!

Team 341 is really looking forward to playing at BE on Saturday!
Last chance to "Rebound Rumble".

Our team had a great time at Ramp Riot last weekend and we're excited Miss Daisy is making a return to BE!

We have 29 teams (http://be.raiderrobotix.org/teams.html) confirmed to attend Brunswick Eruption this Saturday.

I have attached the Brunswick Eruption 11 Team Information Packet, which was sent to all team contacts in an e-mail blast this afternoon. It contains reminders of items to bring, what to do upon arrival, the event schedule, and other highlights.

A webcast of the event will be available at: http://be.raiderrobotix.org/webcast.html

We have created a mobile web app for smartphones, which will be updated throughout the event: http://be.raiderrobotix.org/mobile.html

Match scores will also be tweeted live from @BrunsEruption (https://twitter.com/brunseruption) in the same format used by @FRCFMS with the hashtag #FRCBE.

Finally, as a reminder, we will be hosting a food drive to benefit the North Brunswick Food Bank, as well as a shoe drive to recycle any old or unwanted footwear. Any donations to either drive would be greatly appreciated and the teams that donate the most to each will receive special tiki trophies.

See you on Saturday!

1640 is very sorry that we won't be able to attend BE. :( We were only recently able to get into our shop after some serious damage at Ramp Riot, and it turns out we're beyond repair (both money and shop time) to be ready for Brunswick. We'd be limping around on 1-2 swerve wheels. ::ouch::

We'll sure miss everyone! It's a sad surprise end to our (really great) season. :o I'll still be there with my ref hat on, hopefully with a few volunteers but we also have to fix the bot for some upcoming demos. (Feels like build season already...) We've definitely learn a lot about designing for 100+ matches. We'll be ready for 2013!

Definitely. We're starting to run low on critical spare parts as well - winning Brunswick Eruption will be as much about "who's left" as "who's best". ::ouch::

I'm gonna be rooting for a small team from Hamilton, NJ - 2495

These guys spent their time after Duel on the Delaware tuning their shooter and creating a new drop down intake.

Please go check them out tomorrow! They have great bridge handling and balancing skills and a shooter that is pretty consistent from the key.

We unfortunately don't have an archive of the webcast—it's something we'll work on having for next year's event. If any teams have match videos, let us know and we'll compile them into a single playlist.

I'll do a longer write up/thank you post soon.

Team 869 had a great time at BE this year! We were really excited to grab a spot and get the change to compete one last time with our Rebound Rumble bot. We had a great season and this was the perfect way to retire our notorious little "D-Bot".

Thanks to our awesome alliance 2607 the RoboVikings and 1626 Falcon Robotics, it was a blast teaming up together!

Also congratualtions to the winning alliance, Team2 341, 25, and 3637, we always enjoy competing with such high caliber teams!

Lastely thanks to Team 25 and the BE planning commitee for putting on yet another successful off season event!

Brunswick Eruption was a blast this year!
It's a shame 103, 2590, and 2606 couldn't get their triple balance, but the finals were still interesting, and I'm proud of the drive team from St. Huberts.

341, 25, and 3637 were an amazing alliance, and I thought it was hilarious during their first semi-final match against 869, 1626, and 2607. We, as the blue alliance, were ahead in the first few seconds of teleop, but only by a very small margin, and the announcer said "The blue alliance is actually ahead!"
