i am looking for an infrared sensor that will tell if the infrared light has been blocked, and it must be digital so i can wire 8 of them to the driver station io board. I do not need to get the distance, rather just know if there is an obstacle in the way. Any ideas as to a good one for this usage?

We used the banner trip sensors on our robot, http://www.bannerengineering.com/en-US/products/8/Sensors/23/Compact-Photoelectric-Sensors/109/S18-Series/

They work pretty well, the only issue we had was that we mounted them on plastic, and when we turned hard, the plastic would warp and unalign them. You will also need to use a spike (or maybe more than 1) to power them.
