I know we've had problems staffing drafts lately, and I'd just like to say that now that I'm back at school I should be able to host drafts on any day that's not Monday or Wednesday, if you guys need the help.

Thanks to Ed, Eric, and all of those that have been running drafts so far. I know this is hard work and quite frustrating if even the tiniest thing goes wrong, and we all appreciate it.

Vikesrock is the one you talk to if there are Draft Assistant issues. Better get his attention quick if you want something done; I think free time at HQ is about to go to "what's that?" status.

We thought we fixed a similar issue last year, BTW--the last couple teams weren't picked up by the collector (hence the "Fix" version).

When you run a draft you should have three or four windows open at once on CD. One window open to each draft, a window open for private messages and a window open for your random rankings. Refresh the private message page often. Sometimes it's best to hover on the portal page to see if league members make their own picks. If someone offers up their picks to be random take the opportunity to get ahead using that and lists. Don't wait til the last minute to submit picks or you could easily fall behind and miss someone else making a pick or worse have them legally steal another members pick because you weren't fast enough getting the pick in (sometimes it's better to get the post up and edit it afterwards with additional picks). The best way to maintain the draft que is to select the pick in the Teams section and cut the selected number and then paste it in the time slot.That way you know who gets what and eliminate confusion by leaving desired picks in the que for others to choose.
Keep track of where you left off on the randomized list and draft lists (if possible). Mistakes happen. If there is a dispute involve the commissioner (me). In certain cases there are cause for a redraft (forgotten lists, draftee or teams) , Do note draftees missing some random rookie team in the third round is not reason to make a federal case. As said mistakes happen, you'll live. Do not delete draft lists until later in case of a redraft or a dispute. Follow up on the draft to clean up any changes draftees wish to make afterwards.

Since it appears this is in reference to me, I'll update everyone on Springside. In Tier 1, I did make a mistake regarding someone's list, and it appears that we will need a redraft as it happened early in the second round. The problem in Tier 2 involves a list that never made it to my inbox, I just looked and it's not there. I'm not sure what the procedure is here on whether there should be a redraft or not, so I will defer to the commissioner. I can run the necessary redrafts tonight at 7.

If it was up to me, I'd say target Jan. 3 as a cutoff--if enough teams have signed up to do a draft (call it 20 teams--half capacity-- though 27, or two tiers, would work even better), do one Jan 4. I am scoring this year. I will be posting the results of each events fantasy points in their individual threads. Then posting in this thread the standings after each week (with a separate list for the rankings of MAR and Michigan respectively)

A little more complicated than that, but yes. Each team at a given event gets a score based on wins, ties, finish, and awards (FYI, James--no Coopertition award this year, so those points stay in the point bag). Each player (or team of players) gets the sum of their teams' points. Highest score in the regular season gets the Elgin Clock Award and the first draft in all four Championship drafts.

So according to the BAE results 4546 (the only rookie) Won the highest rookie seed, and rookie inspiration but not rookie all star. After asking the thread I have only been told that convention usually states that the rookie all star is given but not inspiration and is probably a mistake on the results. Should I wait a while to see if it is flopped before calculating the score or just give the rookie award points to 4546?

That's really odd... The FIRST Website just has a blank spot next to Rookie All-Star.

If I had to guess, it's because there was only one rookie at this event. I don't think I've ever seen an event where a rookie won all three rookie awards. Moreover, I don't think FIRST wanted to give a team an instant spot at championships by default.

No rookie has ever gotten RAS, Rookie Inspiration, and Highest Rookie Seed at the same event.

However, in the past, it wasn't uncommon for the only rookie at an event to get RAS and Highest Rookie Seed--this gave the rookie a CMP slot by default.

It's also possible that the judges felt there were no rookie all stars, but there was a rookie inspiration. There is a difference between the awards.

Here's my "shortcut" method: For each round a team advances, I add 4 points. (QF=4 total, SF=14 total, F=28 total, W=42 total) Then I look and see if any rounds went to a third match, in which case I add 2 points to the loser's FF score. Check for backups, and I'm done.
