Just wanted to note that Northern lights scores are still missing the Woodie Flowers award. I don't think I'll be able to find it at this point, there is no thread for that event on CD.

According to the tracker it went to someone with no affiliation to a team.

The tracker just has one winner, and their team is left blank. Not sure what to think of it.

The Woodie Flowers applications carry over year to year, so they probably were on a team when it was sent in. I guess no one gets the points and the scores are correct.

That's really odd... The FIRST Website just has a blank spot next to Rookie All-Star.

If I had to guess, it's because there was only one rookie at this event. I don't think I've ever seen an event where a rookie won all three rookie awards. Moreover, I don't think FIRST wanted to give a team an instant spot at championships by default.

We won all three in 2010 Detroit District (Default)

Normally, you'd have only won 2, and I'm pretty certain I've got the data to back that up somewhere.

Normal procedure (and it's happened this season, at another event) is that if there is only one rookie team, they get RAS and Highest Rookie Seed. This year is the first time I've seen a lone rookie get Rookie Inspiration, and the only thing I can come up with as a reasonable explanation is that they better fit Rookie Inspiration than RAS.

The Woodie Flowers Award entries do, not the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award entries. Once your team has a WFFA, you can submit them for WFA every year. But WFFA essays aren't repeatedly entered every year.

Now hear this. Now hear this.

The Blue Alliance may show teams attending events when the FIRST site does not, and vice versa. The Season Long Fantasy FIRST League only uses the official FIRST lists. Therefore, all claims for 217 in St. Joseph are denied until someone can post an official FIRST list for St. Joseph with 217 on it.

That is all.

I'm working on it, I should be done by Wednesday night. There's this thing called college that's keeping me a bit occupied.

On a related note, I realized an issue with the spreadsheet I'm using for scoring, and the Israel scores are somewhat inaccurate. When I changed it to take account for elimination wins more easily, I didn't use the correct point values for those wins. The Israel tiers will be updated sometime tonight, and the rest of my week 3 scores will be done correctly.

I am really happy with all your patience with FF this week to everyone, I know it must be frustrating to not have the events scored quickly, and now especially before the next week, I will try my best to get them all scored tonight as I just got back from South Florida with my team. I will make sure this does not happen for the remainder of the season and will be sure to have this week scored expediently.

I'll back up Andrew's claim here.

I can speak for everyone here, I feel- we know that you are busy with 1523's activities, and unfortunately that takes away some time from FF. So if we use the Michigan rankings to determine random order ( and everyone who qualifies goes, excluding 1596 who already said they would not attend, attends) here is the order.

But if we do it like that, then the "random rankings" aren't random at all. Everyone could then just say to take randoms and there'd pretty much be no contest.

I'll tell you those rankings do not accurately label the top teams in the state.. There are teams outside the top 15 that are better than those in the top 15.

Littleboy
07-04-2013, 15:55
Some of the teams towards the bottom are quite good. Some just had a bad first event but are much better now.
Even if we used random teams, it wouldn't be all that hard to just use that list as your list. I don't see why it really matters what we use.

I am rather curious as to why there is no rookies

Teams that win the RAS at a district compete at MSC for the award, not with their robot. A rookie team must qualify normally to compete normally at MSC. For that reason, it'd probably be fair to allow any RAS and EI team to be picked, even if they aren't actually competing. Not that I'm saying they'd be a good pick, but any of them have a shot to earn points.

So i am staring at the MAR championship team list and there is 44 teams and in order to do the single tier I need at least 51 so if by tomorrow morning there is not enough teams then we will have to run an odd and even draft as in rank 1-17 odd will be in one and 2-16 even will be in the other.

Also the only teams I still have links to your lists are TeamRUSH, PureMichigan, and Beastly As My Fajitas, though only PureMichigan have a MARC list up so take that what you will. The lists I have been sent are from Team Pascack, Team Awesome Blossom, Peach Alliance, Yellow Alliance and X-Cats. If you are not picking live please send me your lists as doing a redraft would not be enjoyable.

I am good with the Odds and Evens with the exception that the last odd should go over to tier 2. Right now it would be better to be #2 than #1 by a 2 pick margin for 2nd and 3rd round picks. (Odds have 9FF teams, evens have 8 FF teams thus the 2 additional picks). Odds will already have the bias of the higher scoring league players thus a lower probability of a good pick sneaking through (IE 1v2, 3v4,....). Just my opinion, this would help even out the slight shift of higher scorers, and make #1 the more desireable position as opposed to #2 (which is currently a superior position).

Randomize the team list, take the top half and put them in 1 tier, the bottom half in another, and apply the fill ins to both tiers.

That's not quite the way I'd do it. I've had drafts run out of teams (with no open slots) after randomization before, but not to the point of open slots.

If it were up to me, I'd say to compute the median score of a team at the event and apply that in any remaining hole. (Could also do mode; I wouldn't use mean for this.)

No, I wouldn't do that. A random team isn't the same as an average team. I'd take the median of all the teams remaining at the time of the random pick. This only wouldn't work if the random spot was near the end of the draft.

There is no standard procedure, to the best of my knowledge. I think we've discussed using some form of average score to fill that type of hole before, but haven't ever actually had to do it.

I'd definitely wait for Ed to weigh in on Vegas, and score the rest while we're waiting.

1986-Hub City

Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.

Uneasy doesn't even begin to describe the next week and a half. First pick is one of the best and worst fears of the Championship process. So many choices: they could be the jackpot for our alliance, or the fall. And this isn't just anyone we're competing against; this league has some of the most formidable opponents I've met in FIRST.

But, I'll take the small victories as they come; and if this is the last victory we have in FF this season, I'll be content with the world.

I'd give it to them anyways because they were the rookie team that everyone was talking about this season.

Not sure if Volunteer of the Year gets points...
It doesn't. Unlike WFFA and Dean's List, the volunteer could have no team affiliation whatsoever, denying anybody points in multiple events.

Well I am asking since I was asked to average the teams fantasy scores for MARC and MSC.

Last year, the random list was something like the bottom half of the teams by FF score, or something like that.

We're being nice to Ed so he isn't trying to keep up with 4 different drafts at once.

If Ed didn't post them I guess there isn't but if he posts on here I will make a list based on what ever data he says to sort by.

It's a LOT easier to track 4 drafts if there's a lot of time, like there is now. Now, if we were doing these all in one day...

I think this is the list you're looking for. It's just all the points each team got this season for FF. The data's scraped from TBA. If you see any glaring errors let me know, but it should be good.

Reminder for the scorers:

Point values go up at championship for most of the awards. W-L-T and seeding remain the same, but the rest of the awards are now:

Quarter finalists – Division, 5 points
Semifinalists – Division, 10 points
Finalists – Division, 15 points
Divisional Winners, 25 points
Finalists - Einstein Field, 40 points
Winners - Einstein Field, 50 points

Chairman’s – Nationals, 80 points
Engineering Inspiration Award – Nationals, 45 points
Rookie All-Star, 25 points
Rookie Inspiration, 20 points
Woodie Flowers/Judges, 15 points
Dean’s List, 8 points

Highest score / Highest Rookie Seed, 10 points
Robot based award, 25 points
Non-placement award, except previously mentioned, 10 points

So I am stuck, I have scored the teams on everything available to me but I can't find an official source for all the winners of each of the awards given out on Einstein, I do have the Judges awards and Rookie awards from the divisions. Can anyone link me to somewhere they are listed?

Also do the finalist and winners of Einstein still get the points for Division Winners or no?

Really? The way I read it, they do. They did win the division.Following that logic, I believe that every regional winner also needs the Semifinalist and Quarterfinalist points.

Basel is correct: Einstein Finalist and World Champion do not get Divisional Winner points. At least, that's how it's been scored in the past.

Thanks ... it was a really fun season. We had a lot of great discussions about robots this year that we normally wouldn't have talked about during our weekly FF google hangouts.

I would like to thank and congratulate Team 1538 for the single best pick for championship. If they didn't win Chairmans and take #1 seed on Newton, I doubt we would have won.

Also, personally I really like the team format of FF. The last time I did FF was by myself and it was almost too much work. The team effort really makes it easier and more enjoyable.

Thank you Koko Ed and everyone else that ran the draft and scored the events, without you the league wouldn't exists.

The team format is a home run for certain. It has drastically cut down on delinquency and has made the league run much much better.
I can't wait til next year.

And next year's proposed format changes (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113293) are already posted. Most of them are on the organizational side, so there might not be a lot visible to the players--but it'll probably make life a bit easier for organizers.

First, I want to thank everyone for a wonderful FF season. This being my first season in FF, I had no clue what to expect. Thank you Eric for answering my questions early in the season.
I quickly realized how time consuming it was to make 2 lists most nights for a month and a half on top of doing other things. I have learned my lesson: Don't do FF by yourself ever again. To make good lists and keep up with other things is tough.
Overall, I am proud of how I did. From having basically no clue what FF was all about to being 1st most of the regular season was quite an achievement. Ending in 3rd in both the regular season and CMP was something I never expected. It was a lot of fun learning about all the teams and the histories behind them. I didn't know most of the teams and this gave me an opportunity to learn about their achievements and stats.
Congrats to Peach Alliance and PureMichigan for winning the Elgin Clock Award and the Championship Award. Thanks again everyone for a great and fun season. Good luck next year. I look forward to doing this again.

First off, I just wanna say...HOW DID WE LET 1538 SLIP THROUGH OUR FINGERS!!! (no seriously, it was either them or 1986 for us)
But anyways, congrats to PureMichigan for winning the championship trophy. We are content with our Elgin Clock Award (which I am still seeking physically because I know it exists from talking with Barry B. at Championships this year and this photo here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/35897)).

Also, I noticed that award has a Fantasy FIRST logo, which I found another image of here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/28783). My question to Ed is...is this logo still good? I've had ideas for making team shirts.

Again, another great season everyone. Looking forward to competing again for next year.

And there goes my hopes at a three year win streak. Just couldn't recover from our bad performances in the first few weeks. This game really changed up who won and who lost.

Thanks to Koko Ed and the other draft runners / scorers for continuing to run an awesome league. This stuff takes a ton of work and I'd like you all to know how much Flippin' The Greatest appreciates all that you guys do.

I'm really, really glad we picked 610.
