Awaiting Boeing's response. I'm told that we should hear from them within the next three or so days.

We haven't heard from BAE or Boeing. Hopefully it will be with in the next couple weeks.
AllenGregoryIV,
I found an old news article about BAE support for FIRST:

Do you know if there are more recent news ?
Cheers,

This is the last update I received on Nov 6, 2012
"FIRST Teams,
Your BAE Systems FIRST Robotics Grant has been received and is under review. To ensure that we can best utilize available funding and support as many teams as possible we are waiting for final approval of the 2013 fiscal year budget before committing specific funds to teams. We do expect approval during the month of November and hope to have final grant announcements ready in the early December time frame. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to provide the maximum amount of support possible to FIRST teams.
Sincerely,
The BAE Systems Grant Team"

We just received notice of a BAE grant award for our team late yesterday or early this morning.
Notice came via an email to the grant submitter (booster member).
P.S.
It doesn't show up in TIMS yet.
Very Cool !. What is your team number ?
Congratulations Mark McLeod !. Did you get the same amount as last time or is this first time the team applied for the grant ?
Cheers,
Mark.

This grant was for team 358.
This is our third year receiving it, for the same amount.
Although, during our first year receiving the BAE grant there were several extensions that tripled the final amount, including a scholarship to one of our students.
Siri,
Do you know what happen if payment is not made by December 7th ?
Cheers,
Mark.

I talked to a Boeing mentor on another team who received the grant last year. He mentioned that Boeing actually announced the grants after the FIRST payment deadline. Their team just sent an email requesting to submit the payment after the Boeing Grant was announced. FIRST responded to allow the later payment. Just to cover your bases, you might want to send that email to make sure you can wait for the grant. It didn't sound like a big deal when the other team requested a later payment as many teams were in the same boat.
The way I understand it, FIRST and BOEING are in communication with each other so teams that receive a BOEING grant are funded by the deadline.
It has worked successfully for us for the last 3 years, although last year was a nail biter right down to the payment deadline.
Relax and let the process work.

Mark.As others said, extensions can be approved. For things like major FIRST grants, a lot of it happens above the team level. FIRST usually expects some sort of clear team request though, like the email. There may be a bit more pressure on teams who are at all able to pay beforehand (I doubt FIRST wants to track you down if you don't get the grant), but overall it seems they're quite understanding.
Even for teams not waiting on major FIRST-related grants, extensions are available case-by-case. The standard practice is to contact your Senior Mentor (or Regional Director) for help--well before the deadline!--they try to help with resources and, if appropriate, can help with extensions. There are probably other ways to do extensions as well, this just seems to be most common.
Also, at least in MAR (Mid-Atlantic NJ/DE/east PA), teams have additional need-based grant opportunities through the MAR board. I suspect FiM (Michigan) does this as well?

Check with your Boeing mentors as the grant notifications should have gone out today. The Boeing mentor needs to reply back & accept the grant for it to be official.

Got our notification today. Thanks a ton for your help Ryan and a huge thank you to Boeing!
The news is trickling down so teams will hear one way or another....some teams have not heard it yet if they got the grant or not........
Cheers,
Mark.
Everything is down to the wire... Just heard yesterday we got an FRC Team Support Grant, and today Boeing made announcement. Not quite 11th hour, but close.
Boeing was supposedly announcing grant results today, but we didn't get an email stating the outcome either way. Ended up paying registration from our account so it would be on time, hopefully we do get Boeing's support and the extra can just get returned to us.

Team 1836: The Milken Knights would like to thank Boeing for their generous support of our program.
Team 1640, Sab-BOT-age, is very grateful and excited to receive Boeing and UTC Sikorsky support for the 2013 season!

I hope you hear soon! FIRST was very convenient about refunding our payment last time when we were in a similar situation.

Yep! One of our Boeing mentors has been keeping us updated.
Yup there are a few teams that are still on the balance.
I am having a meeting today on a telecom with the few of teams that got rejected and that does not have enough money to compete.....
Next week I am having a telecom with teams that wish to build a demo robot instead of a competition robot.

Did the funds get credited to your TIMS account yet? It did not show up for us yet.

Gotcha, it shows up as a PO for us as well but shows as "Boeing-Restricted" and has not been taken into account in our remaining balance.
Is this how it was for you? I was not the one handling payments last season so I just want to make sure.

Yes. I am assuming this is sufficient to receive the FIRST Choice login info on Monday. I sent an email to frcteams to inquire but have not yet heard back.
