My team has opened up the new D-link and tried to step up the bride using the listed utility on FIRST's website but when it comes to the the 'configuring bride" step. The set up fails and says the D-link's firmware is illegal. We have followed all directions give by FIRST and have tried the AP 5ghz setting and the bridge settings and still have received the illegal firmware problem

Please Help

I solved this quite easily: just flash f/w 2.00.

Steps:
- Download here: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dap1522_revB/Firmware/dap1522_revB_FW_200.bin (ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dap1522_revB/Firmware/dap1522_revB_FW_203b.bin)
- Go to 192.168.0.50 (obviously with the router plugged into the computer)
- Login as Admin (no pass)
- Go to administration tab and find the firmware upgrade option
- Upload and wait
- Done! Now the Wireless Configuration Utility should work just fine

We had a rookie workshop today, and every single one one of them had the firmware issue. They were running 2.02, and following this solution ( especially the download link for v2.00) saved us hours of waiting and debugging. Thanks a lot!

Glad it was of use. Honestly, our team has had no end of problems with them in past years, so I know how they tick by now. ;)

For some reason, I cannot access the download that you have provided. Could you host the file somewhere so I can download it? That website is timing out for me, and has for the last few hours. :(

You say 2.00, but the link actually goes to 2.03b. Which is correct?

It worked for me just now. Are you at a school or something that blocks ftp?

Hm, I'm at a school, so probably, it's blocking it. Could you upload it do Dropbox or something of the like?

Here's some new links; these should all be correct:

D-Link Support Page (broken as of this post): http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutions/connect/access-points-range-extenders-and-bridges/dap-1522-xtreme-n-duo-wireless-n-access-point
Official FTP Site: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dap1522_revB/Firmware/
FTP Hotlink: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dap1522_revB/Firmware/dap1522_revB_FW_200.zip
Dropbox Mirror: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k9ye195a7ntomqy/dap1522_revB_FW_200.bin

Also, note that you must extract the zip before you upload.

The Bridge Configuration Utility should be updated soon to deal with this firmware version. See team update 1.

Thanks from Team 3255! This really saved us time today! I really feel for the rookie teams who may not realize how vital Chief Delphi is for finding answers fast!

We have run into the configuration error that was earlier mentioned and followed the instructions. We set the modem to 2.4GHz and we made sure it was set to Rev-B. After multiple resets and tries we keep getting an error message that reads: Illegal Firmware v(2.02). We have even tried to downgrade to a different version, but all of the links dont work anymore.
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Team156

You could load firmware version 2.03 onto the router and satisfy the configuration tool. Or you could download the newer version of the Bridge Configuration Utility (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Game_and_Season__Info/2013/FRCBridgeConfigurationUtility01_08_13_195.zip) that doesn't complain about 2.02.

We have been unable to find a working link to v2.03. If you have found one that works could you please post it.

Thanks, Team156

How does one install new firmware? Also, how does one know if the router is actually resetting? We see no light activity when holding the rest down for 10+ seconds.

ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dap1522_revB/Firmware/dap1522_revB_FW_203b.bin

I got there by browsing http://www.dlink.com/ and searching for DAP-1522, going to the product page, and selecting the Downloads tab.

So this is kinda related.

Our bridge has what I will call the red light of death at the moment and I wanted to see if anyone was able to help me with it.

I was able to run the configuration utility on the bridge without an issue and we successfully used the bridge without issues. Once we rebooted the robot the bridge refuses to boot with the red power light staying on (even on the AC adapter). I pressed and held the reset button while applying power to put the bridge into the firmware upload mode. I was able to load the web page without an issue, however every time I attempt to upload firmware it fails with the following message.

FAILED TO UPLOAD IMAGE

Unable to upload the image, please make sure the uploaded file is the correct image.

I believe I've read that you must unzip the file, however I have not been able to do that. Any suggestions?

What file are you trying to upload to the D-Link? Where did you get it? The one we've loaded into both of our Rev B DAP-1522s came from the link I posted above.
