View Full Version : Looking to verify released code on Windows 8
Hi
I'm having trouble creating a FRC Robot Project on my brand new Windows 8 machine from ASUS,
As a sanity check, is there anyone else out there who has done a clean FRC install on a Windows 8 Machine (preferably Intel I 7) and has built their first Robot project successfully?
Thanks.
Phil....

I did two days ago. i5, 32GB Ram, 180GB Intel SSD.
What errors are you seeing?
Have you installed both the LV update and the Utilities Update?
Most importantly, have you rebooted since the install?
I had issues on my XP laptop this year, and in previous years, if I didn't reboot first.
i have a windows 8 also. it worked fine for me so you are not totally insane.

I now have a Windows 8 desktop, not sure that I'm all that excited about it though.
Anyway, I've installed everything, built a project, and run the simulation with no problems.

100% agreed. Win7 was fine, Win8 just appears to have a different GUI. "Metro" just doesn't make sense to me. I'm only running Win8 because I was building a new system and my son gave me a copy for Christmas.
I added "Classic Shell", and now mine has the look and feel of Win7.
OK, so it must just be me.
Great.

Yeah, did all that.
One of the WatchDog vi's seems to be upsetting my laptop when I try to create a new project, or open a sample project with crio code in it.
It's actually fun (not) trying to figure out how to cause Windows 8 to actually shut down :)

Wait... if it worked for you.... I may be insane :)
