Will we see a 90 point score on the Pyramid

Yes, but not until IRI.

i don't think so. At the 2010 Champs a you rarely/never saw three robots hang. i think we might see it once, but i don't think it is going to be as common as the triple balance last year.
Yup. MSC and at least 2 of the CMP divisions. Possibly at MAR.

I garuntee you will see it. It is worth a ton of points and so worth trying out, and I am sure that many alliances will try it, and some will do it successfully.
Make that probably at MAR.

I would say it's never going to happen in a FIRST Event. The space will be an issue. You'd have to have a couple outside or corner climbers to fit three bots at the top. It will take a special alliance to pull it off due to the space limitation above the 2nd rung and a scarcity of 30 point climbers.
I would love to see it though!

SVR
I'll go on the record saying this will never happen outside of IRI

At MSC, anything is possible. I repeat...ANYTHING.
No, only at IRI where some teams might want to show off.
All that and IRI has been known to alter game rules. I refuse to consider what changes might make us see six robots off the ground and reaching for the rafters until after I've seen six doing their chin-up "easy" sawbuck points. :D

It will happen, but not on the inside. The really is only room for one on the inside at the top.

Silicon Valley/San Jose would have a high probability of having a 90 point hang.

GTA West would be a good place with 1114 and 2056 and ?????
Would sure be fun to see.

Unfortunately that is never going to happen. I'd never put anything beyond 1114 and 2056. But the field in Canada isn't even close to deep enough for them to pick up a 30 point climber as the final draft pick.

Based on this logic (and it seems sound enough to me) a 30 point climber is virtually guaranteed to be picked by someone.

No, never, not at CMP, not at IRI.

Counter-intuitive Prediction: It will not happen in an elimination match, but will in a qualification match, multiple times. Most likely a certain California regional, both district championships, as well as Championship divisions (not on Einstein) and IRI as long as climbing points stay the same or increase at those two events.
Any robot that can climb to the third level will be picked before any one elimination alliance can get three. It is more likely that three will be paired randomly.
Also, more teams than expected will climb from the inside of the pyramid, so not all can fit.
I think we may see three robots on a pyramid, but i doubt they will all be in the 30pt zone. The chances of three 30pt robots pairing together is slim already. Add the fact that space at the top is limited and teams may be afraid of shaking each other off, and it seems like a big gamble for teams to make unless absolutely necessary. My bet is that at least two fields will have alliances capable, but they may never attempt it.

Came to say that SVR probably has a very high chance of producing a triple thirty; they've got some of the best home teams anywhere (973, 971, 254) and they're getting some serious power from out of state as well (233, 118, 148).

Maybe this is a bold prediction but I think you will never see it
Not only will many first seeds be unable to climb to the third level and anyone able to climb to the third level will be picked well before 24th in the draft. It isn't like acting as the third in a balance like last year with 4334, these points are self contained and not based on the actions of any other robots so anyone able to 3rd level climb will seed reasonably high and be a key asset to many alliances.
Honestly the only chance I see of it happening is something like the 8th alliance being a full time hanger and them picking two others at the 16th and 17th draft spots -- which is still a bit of a stretch but possible in the deeper events like IRI or a CMP division.
Now if 90 points is enough to win a regional by its self is debatable.
To anyone saying SVR is the place to see it remember that regional is top loaded. There are lots of great teams there but the key to producing a triple climb is a deep midfield the kind of which is seen in Michigan and at Championships.

Exactly what I was thinking. 30 pt climbers will be in high demand at eliminations, and Im almost positive no regional will have 30 point climbers in the 3rd round.
Therefore, the only place it could happen is in a qualifier. Low odds are better that zero.
With the high volume of really good robots that go to MAR every year as a result of the district model, Im almost certain it'll happen there. Probably at Michigan too (Though Im not that familiar with it.)

I think this is a genius prediction, and I wouldn't be surprised if that happened at States in Michigan (or even possibly at the Kettering Regional).

After reading the posts and thinking about it for a little, for it to be done in eliminations it would be very very unlikely, because a 30pt hanger will get picked in the first round. But the only case in which it might happen is in a lucky qualification match at Champs or other high caliber events, with three 30pt hanging teams on the same alliance.

Keep in mind, just because teams are considered cali "powerhouses" doesn't mean they'll go for 30. I suspect that there will be no more than five teams that can go for 30 with any kind of consistency at SVR, even concidering how super stacked the event is.
If I was Car Nack, I would bet against it in regional play. Almost all regionals simply will not have 3 robots capable of climbing the pyramid all the way up.

I think you'll see it, and you don't even need all 3 robots in the 30pt zone to get 90pts ON the pyramid. Technically you just need 6 colored frisbees up there with 2 robots. So getting 90 on a pyramid, absolutely possible. 120 on a pyramid, that's another question :D

I'm fairly certain at least 1 MSC playoff alliance will be selected with the primary strategy of triple 30pt hanging. I wouldn't put it past one of the Alliance 5-8 to employ this strategy.
64/209 --> 24 playoff teams; Michigan is way too deep for it not to happen.

At regionals, I think everyone is right that it won't happen, but at Championships, especially with the new qualification rules and the chance for finalist teams to go, it's more than likely that a second round pick will be a 30 point hanger, possibly a hanger that can score in the pyramid goal. If you think that is too much to ask for a second pick at the Championship - look at teams like 16 in 2012, 973 in 2011, 3138 in 2010, 971 in 2009... Amazing teams fall through the cracks at the Championship.
That said, the real variable isn't "will a 30 point hanger still be around", but "will the top seeds be 30 point hangers"?
No, only at IRI where some teams might want to show off.
IRI: where egos go to die...uhm..I mean mean fly!
If a 90-point climb does happen, I sure hope the Field Resetters and Drive Teams will be EXTREMELY careful with belaying each of them carefully...
Unfortunately that is never going to happen. I'd never put anything beyond 1114 and 2056. But the field in Canada isn't even close to deep enough for them to pick up a 30 point climber as the final draft pick.

There will not be any triple hang with 90 points. The number of teams that were able to hang in 2010 champs was very low, so 3 teams that will hang on the pyramid in 3 steps is impossible in my opinion.
I for one will be very disappointed if we do not see 180 points on pyramids at MSC...
