View Full Version : Holonomic Drive Help
When programming in Labview the rotation does not work on Mecanum-Cartesian when testing on the robot. We wired the throttle to the rotation and when pressed the robot loses connection. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I believe that Rotation is supposed to be hooked up to the X-Axis of the Right Joystick.

You can hook it up to any axis on any joystick you want to. It just changes the operator interface.
We are actually using a Logitech Extreme 3D joystick. We used this drive on our 2011 robot on this joystick and it worked perfectly.

A couple of the potential causes might be:
Lack of proper 12v digital sidecar power. Check that the three power lights are all bright and cheerful-5v/6v/12v.
Low battery. Watch your battery voltage display on the Driver Station as it happens.
Radio 12v power coming from an unregulated 12v connection rather than the special 12v connector reserved for it. Watch the radio power lights to see if they are going through a reboot sequence after it happens.
cRIO rebooting due to power brownout. Watch the RSL to see if it stops blinking when the robot fails.
Motor controller fault. Watch the motor controller status lights for unusual blink patterns when it happens.
Breakers popping. Listen for clicks from the Power Distribution Panel as the robot fails and watch the motor controllers for momentary status light loss.
Poor power connections somewhere between the battery and the other critical components. Check power pathways with a multimeter to see how closely it matches the voltage measured at the battery terminals.
Check the Driver Station Diagnostics tab for unusual messages or status.
Above all, watch and note what every status light and indicator are telling you at the time of the failure.
