View Full Version : General motor difficulties

Today we've been trying to get a motor to work. We first tried a VEX Victor 884 and now a Jaguar and have encountered the same general problem. Post status lights show the same general error: for the Victor it flashed orange which apparently indicates a PWM error and the Jaguar is flashing yellow which indicates a Servo error. The programming is ok. We have replaced the 37 wire ribbon connecting NI 9403 to the sidecar with the one from last year as well as the sidecar entirely. We have also reimaged our cRIO II, and tried different PWMs, keeping the programming up-to-date all the way through.
The cRIO is connected to the Classmate through a standard Ethernet cable, programming with LabVIEW. We are thinking of replacing the cRIO II with the cRIO II from last year as I had it running decently before December.
The programming is ok.
If you are absolutely sure of that, then go thru this checklist:

I went through that checklist and I have checked the diagnostics window as per its instructions. I find this error that hadn't showed up before I reimaged:
ERROR <Code> -44075 occurred at "Tester" in the VI path: Robot Main.vi
<time>00:17:00 01/01/1970
FRC: The loop that contains MotorControl SetOutput is not running fast enough. This error can occur if the loop contains too much code, or if one or more other loops are starving the MotorControl SetOutput loop.
"Tester" is currently the name of the Jaguar.

Questions. Yes some of them are stupid, but you'd be surprised how many stupid mistakes I've made over the years. Sometimes you're looking for a complex problem when it's something simple. So:
Have you successfully imaged your cRIO?
Do you have the modules plugged into the cRIO in the correct order? The cRIO Imaging Tool will tell you if it's correct. Should be something like 9201, 9403, then 9472.
Is your robot enabled?
What pattern is your Robot Signal Light blinking? (Or the RSL LED on the Sidecar) Is should be long on - short off if you're enabled in Teleop.
Do you have 12V power wired to your Sidecar?
Is the cable to your Sidecar wired backwards? There were lots of backwards ones last year. Pin 1 on the male side should connect to Pin 1 on the female side.
Are you plugging in your PWM cables correctly? Black should go to the outside of the Sidecar, the inside of the Victor 884, and towards the brake/coast jumper on the Jaguar.
Last and silliest, are you sure you're plugging it into the correct PWM port? I've seen motor PWMs plugged into Relay ports and Digital IO ports before, after all.
Is the 12V supply for the DSC connected?

I guess it was just a stupid mistake. The PWM cord was switched around on the sidecar. I can't believe that through hours of work it was never turned in the right direction! Thank you.
