View Full Version : pneumatics labview solenoids and compresses
I am the programmer for my team and am having problems setting up the pneumatics, i know some numbers i am supposed to change, not sure what i'm supposed to code for the solenoids at all, and have no idea how to get those blue boxes i have seen in a few diagrams i found and which ones to change for which electrical slot things...

I think the "blue boxes" you're referring to are enumerated constants. You get them most easily by right-clicking on an input terminal of a function and choosing "create -> constant" from the popup menu.
Have you opened any of the pneumatics examples in LabVIEW?

Hmm... i'll try that but i think i did and the "constant" part of create was grayed out... i'll check again.
No, I didn't do that, I will try that. Also that would allow me to copy + paste if i couldn't get the create->constant to work.
Hmm... Where do i find the examples?
Also I have a problem, for some reason the nodes/terminals don't appear on mouse-over and i can't wire anything up, will see if restarting fixed tomorrow but will it/if it doesn't what do i do? looking all over the place on right click and menu's, especially view and tools...
Oh, also i like your signature.

The screen you reach upon launching LabVIEW is the "FRC 2013 Getting Started" window. On the left side are the headings "Projects", "Tutorials", "Utilities", and "Support". One of the items in the "Support" section is "Find FRC Examples..."
There's a folder in the NI Example Finder called "FRC Robotics". You'll find it useful. The solenoid stuff is in the "Actuators" subfolder.
If you have a LabVIEW function selected (with a "marching ants" marquee around it), the terminals won't appear when you move the mouse over it. Deselect it by clicking somewhere else, and it should work as expected.

You can also reach the Getting Started window from other LabVIEW windows by looking under View -> Getting Started Window...

Thanks, most helpful next time i need to do something.

Ya, my teacher found another tutorial, however it didn't tell me how to get "button 1" to wire the joystick buttons up... I had to look up another tutorial and get through iprism to find it was unbundle by name... it would have been easier to copy + paste...

Nope, none were selected... EDIT: restarting the computer fixed it.

I know that; if i didn't it would be helpful though.
