Hi Everyone!

On behalf of the NUTRONs, Northeastern University, Textron Systems, National Grid and SolidWorks, I am pleased to announce that the 2013 Beantown Blitz has been booked and confirmed.

The event will take place on June 1st, 2013 at Matthews Arena on Northeastern's campus in Boston, MA.

We have made the Blitz bigger and better for now going on 10 years. We have some great ideas to make Blitz even bigger this year and welcome any teams to join us.

More information will be available as we get closer to the event, but for now SAVE THE DATE, and get ready for the BLITZ!

For any questions, please email beantownblitz[AT]gmail[DOT]com and we will get back to you as soon as we can!

See you there!

Hey Everyone!

The Beantown Blitz registration and information website is now LIVE here: http://www.nutrons.com/beantown-blitz/

Registration is now OPEN, and we invite teams to sign up as soon as possible if they want to attend the event. We have had to put teams on a wait list the past several years.

Follow the directions through the registration page and you should be all set.

We're really excited to bring back the Blitz for another fantastic year. We always strive to make the event bigger and better, and of course this year is no exception to that rule.

We will also be opening up a volunteer registration website shortly. I will post back on this thread when that is live.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to email us at beantownblitz[at]gmail[dot]com.

We will see you at the Blitz!!

Sadly, the Bobcats will be unable to attend. So much for continuing our Beantown winstreak. Have fun!

Here's to hoping it isn't pouring the entire day before and the day of the event....although driving INTO the arena to drop off your robot is awesome

Now I'm just hoping no one's prom falls on that weekend.

It also happens to be an SAT weekend, so have your kids plan in advance for that. Also, I kind of doubt prom would be that late in the school year, but I don't know much about other school's proms.

I look forward to the Blitz every year. I'm not sure if 2079 is attending since I've been disconnected from FIRST this year, but even as a spectator I look forward to going.

Brandon and the rest of 125 out-do themselves every year putting this event together. Definitely one of the top-notch post-season events in the country.

LOL... ask FIRST if you can paint some white frisbees gold.
I wonder how the paint would stick, I would imagine the paint would be stripped off (if shot out of a robot).

Hey how about double points for colored (red/blue) frisbees if thrown into a goal by a human player?

Brandon Holley

All good suggestions thus far! (Minus the coopertition pyramid :-P).

We're open to all suggestions and will start making the final call on changes post-Championship. Keep em coming!

I like the double points for human player disk scores, it's a little extra reward without getting too overhanded.

What about a 15 point score if a human player can get a red/blue disk on top of the pyramid? Haven't seen that happen yet...

I remember seeing at least two of those scores at GSR, and I've heard of more at other regionals, but they're so rare that I feel like it is definitely worth that many points.

At this point in time we have 32 teams registered for the Blitz this year. We still have open spots so make sure you register soon!

Current teams are shown here (http://www.nutrons.com/confirmed-teams/)

You can register here (http://www.nutrons.com/beantown-blitz/)

If you haven't been to the Blitz before we have one the easiest load-ins ever. You can drive your car right into the arena and up to your pit! It doesn't get any easier than that. All this in addition to a top notch event.

I'm so excited for my first event as a volunteer, got the confirmation email today. The UberBots will make a return to Beantown in spirit (and most likely with monkey (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimsrobot/sets/72157633535840616/) in tow) and from what I remember in 2010, it's a great event. Can't wait for Saturday!

As we have done the past number of years, we will be streaming the Beantown Blitz live!

Follow us here starting at 8:30am tomorrow: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/beantown-blitz-2013

Luckily the event is in a cement hockey arena with a great HVAC system, we should avoid the killer heat wave outside!

Best of luck to all teams competing, the field is set and we are ready for another great Blitz!

What a great Beantown Blitz!. I watched from home. It was awesome to see 195 alliance with Team 175 Buzz and Team 1761 TekClaz.

Congrats to the finalist teams 2168, 2791 and 4564, Awesome matches indeed!

I want to thank those that provided the video stream. I was stuck at home and I am so thankful that I still could watch the competition.

Where to start. First off, thanks to Brando and company on 125 for hosting a great event and opening their shop to us. We had a drive gear wear out and the only replacement we could find was a dog gear (thanks Rosie.) 125 helped us make and press in an insert and saved our weekend.

Thanks to 2168 and 4564 as well. We know from experience that Josh and company are very professional and an all out blast to work with and this time was no different.

Lastly, congrats to 195, 175, and 1761.

Thanks for making the trip guys. I'm glad "franken-gear" held up through the end of finals. We were happy to help you guys get back on your feet.

I need to thank all of my volunteers who came out this weekend. I am extremely spoiled to have one of the best volunteer staffs at Blitz every year single year. You guys did a great job and helped make Blitz a great event as usual.

Thanks to all the teams for making the trip to Boston on a hot June day.

We look forward to having you guys back again next year!

Blitz is always a great local off season that runs smoothe from start to finish thanks to 125 and the great group of volunteers. Special thanks to NUTRONS for hosting the 9th one in a row, the 10th anniversary will most certainly top them all! :)

It was great to re-unite with 4564 Orange Chaos running at full stength - a great group of students and mentors who set the bar high for gracious and humble competitors. Your future as a Maine FRC team is bright.

With respect to 2791 Shaker Robotics, once again hats off to great alliance partners, friends, and a fellow EWCP team thats on the cuspe of making a huge splash in the NE area robotics. Their determination over the past couple years to keep pushing through adversity and find a way is inspiring. We couldn't have asked for a better alliance!

Congrats to the winning alliance (195, 175, and 1761)! The Cyber Knights and Buzz were very gracious opponents and its great to be competeting with or against them for the compeition title event after event! Good luck to 195 at IRI.

p.s. a shout out to Rick and comapny from 78 AIR Strike, we will share the same side of the glass in eliminations eventually, its only a matter of time. :)
