I installed the LabVIEW 5.1 update yesterday and now it takes much longer than it would normally take (almost 10 minutes) to open up a robot project. I was wondering if anyone else is having this same problem?

Thanks, Matt Pasco

In general, I would suggest not applying non-FRC LabVIEW updates unless directed by FIRST to do so.

On the NI website they say that you must install this update to compete on FRC.

Where do you go to find/install these updates?

I misunderstood which update you were referring to.
That LV update was just released and I haven't checked it out yet.

If you open up LabVIEW it should pop up saying 5.1 Update or if you got in LabVIEW->Support->check for updates. It will redirect you to this link:

As for performance, anytime you make major changes to WPILib, the VIs will need to be recompiled and perhaps reserved. This is then cached and the performance to get better.

If it does not, please post here or on the NI site.

Right now It takes about 4-4.5 minutes to load a normal robot project. I don't think it should be taking this long. I've tried it opening other projects to see if they didn't take as long but they are all about the same time to load the project. Another thing I noticed is that whenever I close the project it asks me if I want to save some of the WPI library vi's but I've never edited them.

If you save them, does it ask again?

I installed 5.1 and did not notice any significant increase in time to open projects.

On the other hand, the list of recently opened projects was gone after the update, I had to browse to find my project. No biggy, just FYI

I haven't tried it just because I dont want to mess up those vis, I'll try to see if it helps.

Both new and old projects were indeed slower to open, because it reloaded all the new libraries for my projects.
After they finished reloading I saved all and they were back to normal when I opened them after that.

After I saved the Libraries it now opens up in less than 10 seconds
Thanks for the help!

CanJag funtions seem to be broken now (error 15), but I'm not seeing this elsewhere
