I expect some slow starts in the first matches as teams get used to driving their robots and competing for the first time. Then as qualifications wear on I expect the competition to ramp up significantly. I'm talking autonomous scoring, some hanging above the first bar, and some of the better matches having scores at or above 100. I know the potential in these Cali teams and I want to see it shine brightly in week 1. I hope everyone has fun and plays hard. See you at CVR. :D

Really bummed we couldn't make it schedule-wise to CVR this year...it was the highlight of our season last year. I'm really hoping for a live stream, if anyone is aware of a link please post!

Predictions? Hopes? Wishes? Thoughts, anybody?
As usual, 1323, 1678, 973, 1671, 3256 will all bring-on the competition. And no doubt that these teams will be in the top 8 (most probably in the top 4). I hope for a CVR as intense as the first one is.

With borrowed hand tools, a jig saw, lots of sweat and the awesomeness of teams 254, 604, 1868 Rookie Team 4543 The Illuminator's from Apollo High School San Jose is beyond excited to be attending the CVR.
We have a solid kit bot on steroids based robot. 6 wheel, 4 CIM, timing belt driven with Victor speed controllers. A working gyro controlled autonomous, pneumatic floor pick up scoop, dumping hopper with a guaranteed last second 10 point hang. The drive team is well coached and practiced.
See you in a few days

Yeah I'm only getting what sounds like one channel, with some serious artifacts and echo. And I'm only seeing the slides, not the field. Getting there...

Thanks. I had to refresh my browser to get the stream to continue. (It was stuck on the "not playing" screen.) Didn't work though. Audio is fine. Video is the CA FIRST page. I think it's time to give up and try again tomorrow.

Congratulations to the alliance of 1678, 840, and 295, Central valley Regional winners!
The elimination overall were quite exciting. Having worked with 1678 last year at Sacramento, it was great seeing them do well.
There were a lot of interesting robots at Central Valley, and I'll be looking forward to seeing those that will compete at Sacramento and SVR.
Also congratulations to our friends at 1323 for winning another well-deserved Regional Chairman's award. 971 has had felt the impact of 1323 through the amazing MadTown Throwdown and RC's help with some machined parts. 1323 is a great team and though they did not come away with the regional victory, I am sure they will continue to have success on and off the field in the future.

The results on the FIRST website are incorrect. The webcast went down, but from what I understand, semi 2-1 went to blue because of a DQ, then Semi 2-2 went to red because of a technical foul. Semi 2-3 was won by blue, who advanced to finals and won. Anyone who has more detailed information feel free to add on/correct me.

Oh, ok. I was going off of Spyder and FRC Tracker because the FIRST site (http://www2.usfirst.org/2013comp/events/CAMA/matchresults.html) has incomplete data. The two apps showed alliance 2 advancing to finals. Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

Congrats to 1678 and their alliance for the CVR victory! I really loved 1678's auto, there must have been some really good code behind it. I can't wait to check out their bot at Davis.
Also, major props to 1323 for winning chairman's! RC and his whole team is a class act. They gave us our WCP DSs before they even got theirs, which just goes to show the type of professionalism that I connect with 1323. Too bad their robot looked like it was having com issues, I bet it would have been a real force on the field if it was playing as strong as it could have.

1678 would like to thank everyone at the Central Valley Regional for making it a class event. The pits were well-managed, the practice field was conveniently located and allowed multiple teams to practice at once, and there was a general laid-back atmosphere that made it a fun event to compete in.
A huge thank you to our alliance partners, Teams 840 and 295, in helping us achieve the regional win. 840's cross-court shot was pure poetry and 295 provided the aggressive defense we needed to help get 840 to their spot.
The competition was intense and I really thought that there were many teams capable of winning this event. 3970's shooting was scary and they had a very zippy drivetrain. 973 had a beautifully designed hopper/shooter system that shot very consistently. 1323, 1967, 670, 1671, 701 all looked to be offensive threats. There are probably others that I have left out but those teams just come to mind.
Congratulations to 1323, for winning the chairman's award. You guys are a class act and, along with your amazing mentor, RC, you were gracious to our team and helped us whenever we needed anything. See you guys in St. Louis.

Alliance 6 won match 1 of the semis due to a DQ, lost match 2, and won match 3. Alliance 6 then proceeded to win the finals in 3 matches
