With the first rounds of eliminations starting up for 2013 and a lot of people looking all over CD to find out what alliances were formed, here is the thread to post the alliance selection results for 2013. Kind of surprised the thread wasn't started earlier.

Semifinals were the singular most intense matches I have ever seen in FRC, and included the entire gamut of Ultimate Ascent: Fantastic, intelligent defense, full court shooting, full court defense, short range shooting, three level climbing and long range shooting. Any of the four alliances were the caliber to win the event and any could have been confused with the first seed. There was even a match that was 112 to 113. Wow.

Was that the order of the selection? 862 captain, 910 1st pick, and 70 left to be the last pick of the draft? From watching the event it felt like none of the teams should have been left to be the last pick of the draft. It had the feel like whoever the captain was, had the first and second pick of the draft.

wow 16 and 1986 not together, that's a bit of a surprise.

It was a regretful surprise to us as well but in the end, our scouting analysis just could not get there this particular time. Bomb Squad is our friend, mentor and frequent partner and we look forward to playing with them many times in the future. They will do what it takes to win and you can be sure they will be back strong this season in Wisconsin and Arkansas. We hope to finally find ourselves in their division in April.

Yes, that is correct. I just double checked the original post and everything else seems good. Should be a pretty exciting eliminations as 1718/33 vs 67/494 could make for a great finals.

Yes, that is correct. I just double checked the original post and everything else seems good. Should be a pretty exciting eliminations as 1718/33 vs 67/494 could make for a great finals.

Yep, sorry for the little mistakes there.

They got a very fortunate schedule having looked at it with 2826, 2512, 2169 (twice). Only match they lost was against 2169 and they were with 876 that match. I'm sure that they deserve to be in elims, but they were very very fortunate to be the number 1 seed.

The tiebreak applied to 987, not 2984. 2984 only had 18 QS, 399 and 987 had 20--and QS is the first sort.

QS, then auto, then climb, then telop/foul, then random.

We wondered the same thing! We started to get nervous when there were only 3 picks left. Thought maybe we'd done something to offend all of the alliance captains.

It made for one of the most interesting Elims I have ever seen while being envolved in FRC. But it was also quite interesting since it developed no super alliances. First 3056 selected 2512 where we declined and next 2169 also declined. So 2826 also followed suit after that as well as 3130. Finally 3056 selected 876 which accepted. But that was the most declines I have ever seen at any event.

Basel A thanks for the asterisk! We wanted teams that could score a ton and we were on the fence with 468. Sorry 468, you are a great team and had a great machine and we have much respect for you. We did end up with scores of 129 with a quarterfinal win, 151 with a quarterfinal win, a score of 108 for a loss and a score of 113 for a loss in semifinals. So even though we lost to Robotarians, Excel, and Copper bots, we played the matches the way we wanted and we think we pushed them to their limit. If there was a team I would want to lose to, it would be Robotarians. And I am very glad they won!

The finals went to three matches, and the last match was decided by a tiebreaker as they tied 94-94. Alliance 2 committed no penalties, and Alliance 4 committed one penalty. As a result, Alliance 2 was awarded an extra point and the regional victory. These were two very evenly matched alliances, and they were a lot of fun to watch.

EDIT: After further review, it was found that a 2 point disc had been missed for red. Therefore, it was not a 94-94 tie, but a 96-94 victory for the fourth ranked alliance. Congratulations to 1425, 1983, and 753.

All this is true.

***True as well. Whoops!
****This was very gracious of 1714. Their representative went out and handed the alliance their team's scouting data/ pick list. It's a shame they couldn't compete in eliminations.

Because both 701 and 2196 had already won events, 2996 and 1410 received wildcard bids to championship (and then 2996 won the Chairman's Award a short time later, but that does not open any more bids.)
