Can someone make a .gif of that climb so I can use it as a desktop background? :ahh:
That is a gorgeous robot, I'd love to hear some stories on how you guys figured out how you were going to juke and jive your way up the pyramid!

Good job with the video John. We do need to remember to open our lower arm when dumping the colored frisbees!

I absolutely love the feed into the shooter. And the climbing of course.
Awesome bot.

Wow. That climb is incredible. If I knew you could see me in my living room, I would give you a standing-o for that. Really cool robot.

Dat Ascent.
That climb....wow.
I'm curious, why is it only a 45 point climb and not 50?

The last frisbee in our intake falls upward while climbing and the conveyor belt won't shoot it out. If we go to nationals we may look for other ways to make it a full 50.

I thought no one could make a robot that can literally do everything in this game. Thanks for proving me wrong.

Can they cross-court shoot? Do they have a 7-disc auto programmed yet?
One thing's for sure; unless they've discovered some kind of black magic, they can't shoot from above 4ft.
Still, darn impressive machine.

I suppose...
But I would define "doing everything" as the following:
At least 3 Discs in AUTO
At least 8 discs in TELEOP in the HIGH GOAL
30 pt CLIMB
Score some discs in the PYRAMID GOAL
Floor pickup
Could another robot outscore it? Maybe. But can this machine compete in every single level of the competition? Sure can.

We were struggling for a while trying to figure out how to get the hook-and-chain concept to work. Once we realized that going under the second bar was a reasonable approach, the concept became much easier to work with.
Can I get credit for this one Steven? ;)
It was a good tip. :)

I saw the climbing diagrams at the beginning of the season and didn't have a clue what you were going to do. This is brilliantly done. I have been in awe. I don't know how many times I have showed this to other people...
Also, I'm really confused. Some sources have shown you were only planning on going to the Phoenix regional. I really hope as a HOF team and with how you played with this amazing machine that you will be going to world champs. This machine deserves to play there.
i just have to ask, what the name of the song?
*Side note, I would also like to know what song you used.

Thanks for the kind words! I believe the song is listed in the youtube comments somewhere.

Even though we are a hall of fame team, we were not planning on going to championships unless we qualified at a regional event (this was the case last year, and in 2011 as well I believe). We were only able to afford to go to one regional, so it's lucky we've managed to pull out another win. You will see us at championships this year, we are close to having the funds we need.
Hopefully we make it to champs this year. I'd love to see this thing in person and talk to the designers who've put a lot of effort into it!

I was thinking it would fall when it climber over the first bar :D
I'm always so impressed to see the many different ways teams overcome end-game challenges. This is by far one of the coolest, and unique climbs I've seen yet...
Well done, 842!!!
