A question was asked by phone:
Question:
Is it OK to use cotter pins?
Answer:
A cotter pin is a fastner as long as it is used as a fastner.
Warning: Remember that a cotter pin is very soft and has only a small amount of shear strength. Using it to drive a wheel is asking for failure. Be careful in application.
